Bournemouth owner Bill Foley says he is "convinced" the club is the best place for Alex Scott, but admits the pull of Chelsea or Manchester City could turn the midfielder's head.

Scott, 23, is under contract at the Vitality Stadium until 2028. Bournemouth have been keen to tie him down to an extension, but The Athletic reported this month that he has no plans to sign a new deal.

Chelsea saw a £64m offer for Scott rejected during the summer transfer window, and the midfielder has since seen his stock rise with an England debut. Scott impressed during his first appearances in Thomas Tuchel's side during the autumn internationals, earning praise from the England manager. Tuchel said Scott has increased the competition in his squad.

"It's exactly what we need. We need more, more, more, more variety. We need more, more, more options. Then it’s always about the guys who are in camp. Alex was in the highest level.”

Bournemouth owner Foley has insisted that the club will keep working on Scott's contract situation, while openly naming two of the Premier League's biggest clubs as potential destinations.

"We're convinced we're the right place for Alex to be and to stay," Foley told TalkSport. "And we'll keep on addressing the contract issues with Alex as we move through this year.

"We'd love to have Alex stay here and sign a new contract and be part of this team for the long haul. We haven't given up, but sometimes players get stars in their eyes, and they think that Chelsea or Manchester City is the right place to go.

Foley added that Bournemouth plan to keep investing in infrastructure to help retain talent, and said it should become "commonplace" for players at the club to earn six-figure salaries.

Alongside Chelsea and Manchester City, Liverpool have been linked with Scott, with the midfielder having played under Andoni Iraola on the south coast.

Manchester United also expressed an interest in the summer, in a window when they signed central midfielders Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba.
