€50m PSG star confirms he's ready for Chelsea move
PSG youngster Senny Mayulu has overcome his early-season struggles and is increasingly showing that he is capable of starring at the highest level.
The 20-year-old has had a mixed campaign to date at PSG. Mayulu headed into 2026/27 off the back of a tumultuous spring and early summer during which he was at times heavily linked with a transfer.
The uncertainty over his future stemmed from his contract situation. Mayulu was entering the final 12 months of his deal, and agreeing an extension was proving difficult. Things eventually turned quite ugly, with both parties using the media to exert pressure on each other.
PSG accused Mayulu of demanding an exorbitant wage, while the player's camp hit back by saying that the club had thrown the wonderkid "under the bus." The situation was eventually smoothed over, with the versatile youngster signing a new deal until 2031.
However, despite the extension, Mayulu was a forgotten man in the first weeks of the new season. By mid-October, he had clocked just 67 minutes of action, and yet more trouble was brewing.
Mayulu's brilliant turnaround
Last month, reports in France claimed that tensions behind the scenes were rising at PSG because several figures at the club, including coaches and players, were concerned about manager Luis Enrique's use of his squad.
It was suggested that the Spaniard was giving preferential treatment to 18-year-old compatriot Dro Fernandez, even though the teenager's performance did not really warrant this. It was argued that Enrique's faith in Dro prevented homegrown talent from getting minutes.
Mayulu was named as one of the players allegedly suffering from this situation. In light of this, FootballTransfers consulted analytics firm SciSports to see where the 20-year-old could move to in order to fulfil his immense potential.
Interestingly, SciSports suggested that Chelsea would be one of the best destinations for the France youth international if used as a midfielder. In a way, Mayulu could be the Blues' replacement for Enzo Fernandez.
Since then, his situation has dramatically changed. Mayulu is now getting regular minutes and becoming increasingly important. On 26 October, Mayulu came off the bench against Lyon and bagged his first goal of the season in a 25-minute cameo.
Four days later, he played the full 90 minutes against relegation-battlers Le Havre and notched a goal and an assist. This was followed up on Tuesday, when he started against Villarreal in the Champions League and netted in the match's ridiculous first half.
PSG scored four goals in 17 minutes, with Mayulu getting the third just a minute after Desire Doue had doubled the reigning European champions' lead. He didn't just catch the eye with his goal, however.

L'Equipe described his outing as a "complete performance." Intriguingly, Mayulu has now reverted to being an offensive player, which is where he started out playing football.
Enrique initially converted Mayulu into a midfielder, but he seems to have now realised that the 20-year-old is better closer to goal. He has been used as a false nine in recent games and is thriving in this role.
His Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) is currently peaking at €48.3 million, and it will only increase the more minutes he gets under his belt. It remains to be seen if he can keep this momentum going, but the fact that he is now playing regularly will dampen any transfer speculation - or perhaps it will actually have the opposite effect.
With his "complete" performance on the biggest stage, Mayulu confirmed that he is ready to play an outsized role at the highest level. And if PSG can't offer this to him, someone else will. Chelsea and others will surely be keenly following his development.
