  • Stoke have won their opening three Championship games by an aggregate score of 8-2

  • The Baggies are unbeaten in the league as well with two wins and a draw so far

  • Recommended bet: Draw

Stoke City have made a perfect start to the Championship season, backing up their wins over Derby and Sheffield Wednesday with an impressive 2-1 victory over Southampton last weekend.

Mark Robins' men survived a red card for striker Divin Mubama to beat the Saints in a win that suggests they might just be the real deal this season.

Robins made wholesale changes for the Carabao Cup second round clash at home to Bradford City on Tuesday and it backfired as they lost 3-0 against the League One outfit.

West Brom have begun their first season under new head coach Ryan Mason well, with back-to-back league wins.

However, they were disappointing last time out as they only managed a home draw with Portsmouth and face a tricky assignment against the Potters this weekend.

Team News

Stoke will be without the suspended Mubama. The striker has two goals to his name this season and will be a big miss for the Potters, with the Manchester City loanee leading the line well for his new club.

Ben Pearson returned from injury last time out to take a spot on the bench, and the defender will be pushing for a start this week. However, he was among several players given minutes in the 3-0 EFL Cup loss to Bradford that failed to impress.

Robins is likely to keep changes to a minimum from the last XI that took to the field in the league, given the poor display in midweek.

West Brom are likely to be without Daryl Dike and Tammer Bany once more, with both players yet to feature so far this season.

Mason has an otherwise fully fit squad to choose from. The Baggies boss made one change from the win over Wrexham, with Michael Johnston coming in for Karlan Grant, and the Irishman took his chance by grabbing a goal against Portsmouth and has likely done enough to keep his spot.

The stats

This clash pits two of the six unbeaten teams against each other with Stoke boasting a 100% record, while West Brom have two wins and a draw to their name.

Stoke have looked strong at both ends of the pitch, scoring eight and conceding two in their three league matches.

The Baggies have netted five goals and conceded three.

Sorba Thomas has impressed for Stoke this season, with the full-back grabbing three assists and two goals already.

Issac Price looks the main threat for Mason’s side with the Northern Irishman netting three times and assisting once so far this campaign.

Prediction

Two in-form teams meet in Stoke this weekend and there looks little to split the sides.

West Brom will be disappointed not to have taken all three points against Portsmouth last time out, but two wins and a draw is a solid start to the campaign under a new manager.

Stoke have impressed with three wins and none more so than against Southampton last time out, particularly given they played for more than half an hour with 10 men.

This is another big ask of Mark Robins' side but one they should be up to. However, with the Baggies looking strong in defence and capable in attack, the two sides could cancel each other out.

Backing both teams to keep their unbeaten record with a draw looks an appealing option.
