Head coach Ruben Selles will be hoping Sheffield United can finally get off the mark this season.

Sheffield United boss Ruben Selles is praying the international break offers him a fresh start as his side head to Ipswich Town on the back of five straight defeats in charge of the Blades.

Selles is likely to field several new signings as he strives to find a winning formula against a Tractor Boys side also struggling and also banking on a number of new players.

Team news

Championship record signing, 19-year-old Norwegian striker Sindre Walle Egeli, as well as Marcelino Nunez – signed from bitter rivals Norwich City – are in line for their Ipswich debuts.

New loanees Chuba Akpom and Ivan Azon are vying for the number nine and Darnell Furlong can expect to slot in at right-back.

Sammie Szmodics is a doubt after picking up a calf injury away with the Republic of Ireland.

United will not be able to select new winger Chiddie Ogbene, whose loan switch from Ipswich means he has to sit this one out.

Central defender Ben Mee and midfielder Oli Arblaster are both expected to miss out as they are still short of full match fitness.

The stats

Ipswich have drawn four of their five matches played so far this season, losing the other.

United have played five, lost five this term.

The Tractor Boys have not won in their last 11 matches at Portman Road, a run stretching back to mid-January.

United have won 39 corners in their four league games, the most in the division.

Prediction

Both of these two sides will want to use the international break for a reset after dismal starts to the season.

Town have three draws in the Championship and a defeat to their name, plus a Carabao Cup exit at Bromley to further raise questions.

United, meanwhile, have played five and lost the lot, leaving their post-Chris Wilder prospects looking bleak.

Play-off finalists in May, the team was bottom of the table by September.

New head coach Selles needs his transfer window overhaul to bear fruit quickly, or he will be out of a job.

Ipswich have also spent fortunes in the window as Kieran McKenna looks to fix a team in a downward spiral after relegation from the Premier League.

The hosts are odds-on but doing little to justify that quote, as United are long odds for a reason and it is not an easy 90-minute result to call.

What does look certain is that both teams will be positive, having bolstered their attacking options in the window.

They are both averaging over 12 shots per game and do not look overly reliable at the back, so expect goals and also corners, and lots of them.

United have not registered under eight in any of their four games – usually because they are chasing results – so take the 13/8 they have six or more in Suffolk on Friday night.
