  • Wrexham welcome West Brom to the Racecourse Ground on Saturday lunchtime

  • Birmingham travel to Blackburn on a busy Saturday afternoon

  • Southampton visit Ipswich for a midday start on Sunday

Week 2 of the Championship season begins on Saturday at lunchtime and features some cracking ties. We are looking ahead to all 12 games, with a score prediction for each one.

Derby vs Coventry (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Both teams responded to disappointing opening weekends with midweek successes in the Carabao Cup. Derby won both league meetings last season and the Rams may edge this.

Score prediction: Derby 2-1 Coventry

Portsmouth vs Norwich (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Portsmouth started with a good away-day win at Oxford but Norwich tend to bring goals and the Canaries can collect something from their trip to the south coast.

Score prediction: Portsmouth 2-2 Norwich

Wrexham vs West Brom (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Victims of two late goals last week at Southampton, Wrexham conjured up two of their own in the Carabao Cup success against Hull in midweek. The Racecourse Ground will be buzzing and the hosts can edge this first-ever league meeting with the goal-shy Baggies.

Score prediction: Wrexham 1-0 West Brom

Blackburn vs Birmingham (Saturday, 3pm)

Birmingham have looked good in games against Ipswich and Sheffield United so far and Chris Davies' side may have enough in the locker to condemn Blackburn to a hat-trick of losses in league and cup so far.

Score prediction: Blackburn 0-2 Birmingham

Bristol City vs Charlton (Saturday, 3pm)

Bristol City hit Sheffield United for four at Bramall Lane last weekend. Their clinical finishing could be the key to success at Ashton Gate.

Score prediction: Bristol City 2-0 Charlton

Millwall vs Middlesbrough (Saturday, 3pm)

Opening weekend wins over Norwich and Swansea will have left these sides feeling good, but Boro's inconsistent ways were evident in a humbling Carabao Cup loss at home to Doncaster. They can pick up a point.

Score prediction: Millwall 1-1 Middlesbrough

Preston vs Leicester (Saturday, 3pm)

Marti Cifuentes' Foxes have made a slightly stuttering start to the season, but they should be good enough to continue their good recent record against Preston.

Score prediction: Preston 0-2 Leicester

Sheffield Wednesday vs Stoke (Saturday, 3pm)

The Owls laboured against 10-man Bolton in midweek and, like Stoke against Walsall, needed penalties to prevail. This could end in a stalemate at Hillsborough.

Score prediction: Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 Stoke

Swansea vs Sheffield United (Saturday, 3pm)

The normally solid Sheffield United rearguard was ripped apart by Bristol City last week and they were outplayed at Birmingham in the Carabao Cup. Swansea only mustered one shot on target in their Championship opener.

Score prediction: Swansea 0-2 Sheffield United

Watford vs QPR (Saturday, 3pm)

Watford suffered the most Championship losses of any side in the top 18 last season and QPR have only lost one of their last six visits to Vicarage Road.

Score prediction: Watford 1-2 QPR

Ipswich vs Southampton (Sunday, 12pm)

Ipswich were hugely fortunate to avoid defeat in week one at Birmingham and have since lost to Bromley in the EFL Cup. Southampton turned it around against Wrexham last week, the Saints having had 27 shots at goal. They should add to the Tractor Boys' early-season woes.

Score prediction: Ipswich 1-2 Southampton

Hull vs Oxford (Sunday, 3pm)

Both teams will attempt to land a first league goal of the season and they can both get off the mark at the MKM Stadium in a share of the spoils.

Score prediction: Hull 1-1 Oxford
