Vinicius Junior can help Real Madrid get off to a good start in the Champions League on Tuesday

Real Madrid and Inter Milan meet in an enticing Champions League league-phase tie on matchday one on Tuesday evening.

Real, the record 15-time European champions, have Jose Mourinho back in charge and have made a good start domestically, winning three of their first four games, while Italian champions have a perfect record in Serie A so far with three wins from three.

This is likely to be a closely fought affair in the Spanish capital with goals and excitement aplenty.

Team news

Madrid are without suspended trio Eduardo Camavinga, Arda Guler and Bernardo Silva and Aurelien Tchouameni is a major doubt with a muscle problem.

Eder Militao, Rodrygo, Ferland Mendy and Thiago Pitarch are definitely out injured for the hosts, while Endrick and Marc Cucurella are set for late fitness tests.

Inter's summer signing from Spurs, Djed Spence, is unlikely to feature as he continues to build up his match fitness, but another recent recruit from the Premier League, Curtis Jones, is pushing for a start after impressing when coming off the bench against Napoli at the weekend.

The stats

Mourinho led Inter to their memorable 2010 Champions League triumph when in charge of the Italian giants.

Real have won three of their four LaLiga games so far this season.

Inter have picked up three wins in their first three Serie A matches.

Both teams have scored in two of Inter's three matches.

Real have won the last four meetings between the sides, all in the Champions League.

Vinicius Jr has scored 34 goals in 82 Champions League appearances.

Inter forward Lautaro Martinez has 25 goals from 66 career games in total in the Champions League.

Prediction

Real are favourites at home to kick off their European campaign with a win but this is no straightforward first game for Los Blancos.

Real, who started their LaLiga season with three straight wins but came unstuck at Real Betis at the weekend, losing 1-0, will be tested by the Italian champions.

Inter have won their first three in Serie A, including when coming from 2-0 down at home to triumph 3-2 over Napoli on Saturday, and are a hugely respected Champions League side.

Mourinho's men are fancied to edge a tight game in which both teams score. Real have already racked up 10 goals domestically, while Inter have banged in a total of eight from three matches.

Vinicius Jr, who was a transfer target for Arsenal this summer but ended up staying with Los Blancos, can make an impact in the game and is backed to have at least two shots on target as the final part of a three-leg Bet Builder.

The wily Brazilian had one shot on target, without scoring, in the weekend defeat at Betis and two in the recent win over Real Sociedad.
