Arsenal will look to maintain their perfect start to the season when they travel to Naples to take on Napoli in their opening Champions League fixture on Wednesday.

The Gunners reached the final of the competition last season, but fell short against Paris Saint-Germain after a penalty shootout.

Napoli failed to qualify for the knockout phase of the Champions League and finished second in Serie A, but it was not enough to tempt Antonio Conte to stay in the dugout.

Massimiliano Allegri has lost two of his first three matches in charge and Arsenal will hope to capitalise on their hosts' struggles.

Team news

Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay is set for a month on the sidelines due to a heart issue, while Alessandro Buongiorno, Luca Marianucci and Giovane are all sidelined, although Buongiorno and Marianucci were not named in the league phase squad.

Arsenal defender Cristhian Mosquera is expected to miss out due to a muscle injury, while Jurrien Timber may return from a groin injury, although he is expected to be back on the bench at best.

Fellow defender William Saliba remains sidelined with a serious back injury.

Bruno Guimaraes was fit enough to shake off an injury to be named on the bench in the 2-1 win over Chelsea, but he is not expected to start in Naples.

Prediction

Arsenal have carried on where they left off last season and Mikel Arteta's team proved how consistent they are when they battled past Chelsea on Sunday.

The Gunners will do well to silence a Napoli side on the road, though, with Allegri's team already finding the net five times this season.

Arsenal are a weaker team without Saliba at the helm, and Ezri Konsa is still adjusting to life at the heart of Arsenal's defence.

The Gunners should be able to wrestle their way to victory and forward Kai Havertz will be crucial to their chances.

He has scored three goals already in four appearances and has registered five shots on target from six efforts.

Havertz will need to be wary of Napoli's Rafa Marin, who looks good value to be carded.

Marin has conceded seven fouls in three appearances and his aggressive style should land him in trouble.
