Galatasaray host Juventus in the Champions League play-offs on Tuesday evening and will be aiming to extend their resolute run having lost just once, at Manchester City, in their last nine games.

Juve, meanwhile, travel to Turkey having finished 13th in the standings after drawing four of their eight league phase matches.

Team news

Gala will be without Enes Emre Buyuk who has been sidelined until March with a shoulder injury, while Mario Lemina, who has picked up three yellow cards in this season's Champions League, will miss taking on his former club due to suspension.

Leory Sane has returned to training and should be fit to feature.

Juve striker Dusan Vlahovic remains unavailable having been out since November with a groin issue, but Khephren Thuram may recover in time from a knock having missed Saturday's 3-2 Serie A defeat to Inter Milan.

The stats

Galay and Juve have met six times in UEFA competitions. Each game came in the Champions League group stage, with the Turkish side winning two, Juve triumphant once and the sides drawing three times.

This is only the second occasion a Turkish and an Italian club have faced off in a two-legged tie in the Champions League.

The first time saw AC Milan defeat Galatasaray 8-1 on aggregate in the quarter-finals of the 1962/63 European Cup.

Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen is the joint-third top scorer in the Champions League this season with six goals in six appearances, including a hat-trick in a 3-0 win at Ajax.

Juventus have lost only two of their last 10 UEFA matches against Turkish opposition, winning five and drawing three, though those two defeats came at the hands of Galatasaray.

Prediction

Gala have proved solid and hard to beat this season and it is the strong form the Turkish side have shown at both ends of the pitch that has ensured the hosts are top of the Super Lig and progressed to the Champions League play-offs.

With Osimhen leading the line, Galatasaray have earned impressive wins over Liverpool, Ajax and Bodo/Glimt while also holding Atletico Madrid.

Boasting home advantage, Okan Buruk's side will be confident of at least holding a Juventus side who drew half of their league phase matches.

Gala have lost only six times in 36 matches across all competitions and will provide a tough test for the Italians.

Juventus head to Turkey having failed to win in three games though the league phase ended strongly with wins over Pafos and Benfica before drawing in Monaco.

Luciano Spalletti's side have scored 11 goals in six matches and so netting at a rate of nearly twice per game means they will be confident of getting on the scoresheet against Galatasaray.

The two teams boast obvious quality and it could be that the sides cancel each other out which would suit Juventus before returning to Italy to get the job done in the second leg.
