Chivu: “No one should question Calhanoglu. Is the Champions League a dream or an opportunity?”
Inter manager Cristian Chivu spoke to Sky Sport and at a press conference ahead of the Champions League match against Bruges. After going down fighting against Real Madrid, Inter need a win to get back on track for the last 16.
No match is easy in the Champions League
"We know we have to play seven matches and get the most out of them to qualify. Bruges are a team with an identity, who look to take the initiative: they have a certain level of quality. It will not be easy; in the Champions League, no match is.
In the matches we play, we need energy, determination and the right attitude: we make our choices on that basis. Against Parma, we made different choices from what some might have expected: we have a strong squad whose individual quality is at the group's disposal."
Calhanoglu
"Calhanoglu? No one should ever question his value. He has shown it over the years. We'll see how we manage him; we need everyone because we play every three days. What we must not do is put the players' physical wellbeing at risk."
Champions League: dream or opportunity?
"The Champions League: a dream or an opportunity? We all need to pay attention to this question: if you answer 'dream', you put 'objective' in the headline, and that is not the same answer. It is right for Inter to have the ambition to go as far as they can, dreaming that they can go a long way."
