Viking vs Bayern Munich: Match report
The game was only a minute old when Bayern Munich conceded yet again. Last week, they conceded a goal inside 10 seconds against Augsburg in the Bundesliga.
A corner was delivered into the box and Gianni Stensness rose up highest to head past Jonas Urbig, leaving the Bayern players stunned.
Michael Olise had an effort saved by goalkeeper Arild Ostbo from a freekick outside the box, as Bayern looked to respond quickly.
Luis Diaz in his customary style cut inside from the left and had a crack at goal, but the goalkeeper was equal to the task to thwart the danger.
Joshua Kimmich came very close to scoring from two yards out, but he could not keep it on target. Prior to that Viking created a couple of fantastic chances but Urbig did well.
Viking looked threatening all evening from counter-attacks, and they got their second goal when Peter Christiansen calmly slotted beyond Urbig after he was put through with a delicate pass from midfield.
In the second half, Kimmich was fouled in the box, but after a VAR check the penalty appeal was not given.
Luis Diaz got into a good area, and his effort struck the side net after Kimmich found him with a fantastic pass.
Bayern intensified the pressure as they search for the opening goal. Konrad Laimer was fouled in the box, and after a late VAR check, the referee awarded the penalty.
Harry Kane stepped up, and scored to pull one back for the visitors. It was his 153rd goal in 156 games.
Moments later, Tom Bischof came with a thundering strike with his left foot, but the goalkeeper was equal to the task and made a fantastic block.
Harry Kane came to Bayern’s rescue again, as he scored from a header to restore parity, with Kimmch producing a perfect cross from the right side.
The pressure kept on piling, and Bayern finally took the lead through Luis Diaz.
Kane was once involved in the move and Laimer had all the time on earth to pick out Diaz on the far corner, and from that position, the Colombian could not miss.
A moment of madness from Michael Olise saw Bayern went down to ten men in the 72nd minute, with the Frenchman picking up two yellows within a space of minute.
The extra-man advantage gave Viking a new boost as they tried to control possession and create chances, mainly from set-pieces.
Viking skipper Botheim produced a floated delivery from the left, and substitute Herman Haugen gets up at the back post to get his head on it to seal a dramatic result.
