Eintracht Frankfurt vs FC Koln (Friday, 7:30 pm)

Frankfurt’s defensive issues were laid bare again last weekend when they fell behind inside a minute and eventually lost 6-0 to a rampant RB Leipzig. That was the third time in five Bundesliga assignments since the summer where Adi Hutter’s strugglers shipped 3+ goals. FC Koln meanwhile, enjoyed derby delight against Rhine rivals Gladbach (2-1) last time out, though that result could have swung either way. Neither of these teams are convincing at the back, while their meetings last term averaged 5.50 goals per 90 minutes. Expect excitement again.

Prediction: Eintracht Frankfurt 2-2 FC Koln (7/1 with LiveScore Bet)

Union Berlin vs Borussia Dortmund (Saturday, 2:30 pm)

Dortmund were two goals to the good in the 85th minute but still failed to beat Werder Bremen (2-2) in last week’s Friday night fixture, though those were the first points dropped by BVB this season. Coach Nico Kovac was rewarded with a contract extension until 2029 earlier this week and if his team isn’t too jaded by their midweek trip to play Bodo/Glimt in the Arctic Circle, a bounce-back win at Union Berlin should be on the cards. The Iron Ones have already conceded seven against Bayern Munich and four goals against Bayer Leverkusen this season, and they could toil against another quality opponent.

Prediction: Union Berlin 1-3 Borussia Dortmund (15/2 with LiveScore Bet)

Schalke 04 vs Mainz 05 (Saturday, 2:30 pm)

Despite playing for half an hour with a one-man advantage, Schalke still conspired to lose at Freiburg (2-1) last weekend. They’ve fared a little better at home since their promotion, holding Elversberg (0-0) and Bayern Munich (0-0) at the Veltins-Arena so far, though potent counter-attackers Mainz could test their resolve. Mainz hit nine goals across their first two away tests of the campaign at Hamburg (5-0) and Gladbach (4-3), and they seem built for success on the road.

Prediction: Schalke 04 2-3 Mainz 05 (12/1 with LiveScore Bet)

Hamburg vs VfB Stuttgart (Saturday, 2:30 pm)

Hamburg were on course for defeat at Hoffenheim before a second-half red card for their hosts allowed them to flip the game on its head (3-2). Buoyed by that triumph, Merlin Polzin’s side should be awkward opponents for Stuttgart. The visitors were in Champions League action in Slovakia against Slovan Bratislava on Wednesday and the short turnaround between matches should have an impact, while Stuttgart were also turned over when they last visited Volksparkstadion (2-1).

Prediction: Hamburg 2-2 VfB Stuttgart (15/2 with LiveScore Bet)

Elversberg vs FC Augsburg (Saturday, 2:30 pm)

As we predicted, Augsburg gave Bayern Munich a real scare last weekend, scoring the fastest goal in Bundesliga history through Robin Fellhauer, before matching the champions throughout in a 2-2 draw. However, Elversberg will represent a different challenge entirely. The newly-promoted minnows were unlucky to lose at Union Berlin last weekend after a deflected effort decided the game and they tested Bayern (1-2) and beat Leverkusen (3-2) in their first two home games. Don’t be surprised if Augsburg drop points here.

Prediction: Elversberg 1-1 FC Augsburg (6/1 with LiveScore Bet)

Werder Bremen vs Paderborn (Saturday, 2:30 pm)

Werder Bremen showed real spirit to rebound from two goals down in the dying embers to earn a share of the spoils at Dortmund last week, and they’re now unbeaten in four games in the Bundesliga. Daniel Thioune’s charges have picked up six points from six at the Weserstadion and they’ll back themselves to maintain their perfect start at home against Paderborn. The visitors have lost three of their last four league matches, and failed to register in all but one of those.

Prediction: Werder Bremen 2-0 Paderborn (15/2 with LiveScore Bet)

Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig (Saturday, 5:30 pm)

Bayern Munich’s 2-2 draw at Augsburg was a tale of frustration and missed chances. They’ve dropped points twice in three away games in the Bundesliga since the summer, however, they’ve been their usual imperious selves at home, hitting 17 goals across three wins in two competitions in Bavaria. Like their hosts, Leipzig have been strong on their own patch but wobbly on the road. They’ve lost each of their first two away tussles in the division, shipping five goals along the way, and Die Roten Bullen conceded 11 times in their league meetings with the champions last term. Expect on-way traffic.

Prediction: Bayern Munich 4-1 RB Leipzig (15/2 with LiveScore Bet)

Bayer Leverkusen vs Freiburg (Sunday, 2:30 pm)

Freiburg replaced Dortmund as the Bundesliga’s early front runners last weekend when they beat Schalke 2-1 with ten men. Their tally of 13 points after five matches represents the club’s best-ever start to a league campaign, and Freiburg can test their early confidence at Leverkusen on Sunday. Die Werkself found form before the international break and picked up where they left off against Mainz (4-3) last time out. Bayer have also won each of their last three meetings with Freiburg in Leverkusen and they could make home advantage count again.

Prediction: Bayer Leverkusen 3-2 Freiburg (10/1 with LiveScore Bet)

Borussia Monchengladbach vs Hoffenheim (Sunday, 4:30 pm)

New head coach Alexander Blessin couldn’t deliver the right result in his first game at the helm against Gladbach’s local rivals Koln (1-2) in the Rhine Derby, however, there were some moments of promise in his team’s performance. Still rock bottom, Gladbach play second-last Hoffenheim in Blessin’s first outing at Borussia-Park. Die Fohlen won 4-0 when they last hosted Hoffenheim in May and that fabled new-manager energy could be enough to force a win over the same opponents here.

Prediction: Borussia Monchengladbach 2-1 Hoffenheim (8/1 with LiveScore Bet)
