Highest paid in Europe: Harry Kane earns a record salary with Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich striker outshines Europe's stars
Harry Kane is now the highest-paid player in Europe. The England striker put pen to paper on a new Bayern Munich contract on Thursday.
Bayern confirmed the deal keeps Kane, freshly crowned Ballon d'Or winner as the world's best player for 2026, at the Allianz Arena until June 2029. The announcement ends months of speculation over his future.
German reports cited by the English newspaper "Daily Mail" claim the new terms have pushed Kane's weekly wage to a staggering £400,000, believed to be the highest basic salary in Europe.
Kane scored 73 goals in 65 matches for club and country last season. That haul earned him the Ballon d'Or ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal at last week's ceremony in London.
Since arriving from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 for £86 million, the England captain has racked up 156 goals in 161 matches for Bayern.
With just six months left to run on his previous deal, Kane had been linked with a Premier League return to chase down Alan Shearer's goalscoring record. That hope has now evaporated. He has committed to three more years with the German champions.
Trophies had always eluded Kane before Munich. He has made up for lost time since, lifting two Bundesliga titles, the German Cup and two German Super Cups in two years.
For England, Kane led the Three Lions to their best World Cup finish since 1966 this summer, claiming the bronze medal. He scored six goals in seven matches under Thomas Tuchel.
