Even though a number of weeks have passed, the footballing world is still talking about Manchester City and the guilty verdict on their 115 breaches of financial fair play rules. Many are still discussing what punishment fits the crime, with many believing relegation is a very strong possibility for the Premier League side.

Should Manchester City get relegated, a mass exodus of players is expected, with one name in particular being strongly linked with Bayern Munich: none other than Erling Haaland. The Norwegian joining Bayern has left the realm of fan theories, with top club officials now being asked if the striker could end up at the Allianz Arena, with one club official giving an interesting answer - one that fans will love.

While speaking with Bild (via iMiaSanMia on X), Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer was asked if Bayern would consider signing Erling Haaland if Manchester City gets relegated as punishment for their 115 breaches of financial fair play rules, and his answer wasn't a flat-out no. Hainer went on to say:

We have an excellent forward line with Kane, Olise, Díaz and the others. We scored over 120 goals last season. So I think we're very well equipped in attack. Maybe in a few years after Harry Kane? If we're talking about the future in a few years, then there will be a new situation and we'll see. Bayern Munich president, Herbert Hainer

Erling Haaland could still end up at Bayern Munich one day

Haaland has been linked with Bayern for as long as anyone can remember, with many viewing him as the perfect successor to Robert Lewandowski during his time at Borussia Dortmund; however, Bayern chose not to move for the striker, culminating in Haaland joining Manchester City and Bayern signing Harry Kane a year later. Both moves ended up working out for both players and their clubs; however, Haaland's name is once again being brought up with Bayern, and this time a move could be much more possible than in previous years.

At 33 years old, Kane is still playing some of, if not his best football, but the sad reality is he's not getting any younger, and at some point Bayern will have to start planning for what life looks like without him. There are a number of top strikers in world football; however, Haaland is one of the most Bayern-coded players around and would fit the team like a glove. With the club president himself not shutting down rumors of Haaland one day playing for Bayern, this definitely makes a possible move seem much more realistic if the club itself is also thinking about it, not just fans.

Bayern are expected to sign Harry Kane to a new two-year extension, which gives the club some time to think about what the next right step is for the club once Kane's time does come to an end. The fact that Herbert Hainer is also thinking about the possibility of bringing in Haaland in the future is a positive sign that the club means serious business to bring in another top striker to carry on the lineage of top-class strikers Bayern have had in their history.
