He most recently earned 25 times as much! Spanish top-flight club offer former Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho a tiny salary
A move to FC Getafe for former Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho appears to be taking increasingly concrete shape. But besides the salary, another important matter still needs to be settled.
Getafe have made a formal contract offer to Sancho, according to the Telegraph. The Spanish top-flight club want to sign the attacker, who is currently without a club, until the end of the season.
Sancho is reportedly open to the offer despite the drastic pay cut. At Manchester United, he earned just under €300,000 a week before his contract expired at the end of June. Getafe's deal would pay him only around €12,000 a week, according to the Telegraph, approximately 25 times less.
For weeks, Getafe have looked Sancho's most likely destination. But wages are not the only hurdle. Getafe manager Jose Bordalas reportedly wants the former Dortmund player in his squad, but his own future at the club remains unclear.

Bordalas is reportedly under pressure after an unsatisfactory start to the season. Getafe have taken just nine points from their first nine LaLiga matches (currently 16th in the table) and won only one of their last ten games in all competitions. If the 62-year-old is dismissed, the club would first have to establish whether the new manager wants Sancho.
Since leaving Dortmund in 2021, the former BVB star has rarely found things straightforward. United paid a transfer fee of €85 million for the dribbler at the time, but Sancho never lived up to the high expectations at Old Trafford. His only truly convincing spell in recent years came during a six-month loan return to Dortmund in the second half of the 2023/24 season.
With no future at United, Sancho spent each of the past two seasons on loan in the Premier League. Neither Chelsea nor Aston Villa revived his career. Sancho has been without a club since the end of last season. Another return to BVB was discussed for a time, but ultimately did not materialise.
