Harry Kane has said he would swap his Ballon d'Or success to win the Champions League with Bayern Munich this season.

Kane was named winner of the Ballon d'Or last month, beating Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal to football's biggest individual honour.

The 33-year-old was recognised after scoring 61 goals in 51 games for Bayern last season, a return that helped the German giants to a domestic treble.

Bayern lost to eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain in last season's Champions League semi-finals and Kane is keen to secure elusive European success this season.

Speaking ahead of Bayern Munich's meeting with Atletico Madrid in the league phase tonight, Kane said he would swap individual accolades for team success.

"Team trophies are why we play football," he said at a pre-match press conference.

"The team aspect of our sport is really, really important. The Ballon d'Or last week was one of the best feelings I've had in my life and my career. But to have moments with the team, celebrations with the club - to be able to life the Champions League with Bayern would be an incredible feeling.

"I would choose the Champions League, but I have the opportunity to do both. Let's see what happens."

Bayern are currently 14th in the league phase table, having drawn their last two Champions League fixtures. The German champions beat Bodo/Glimt in their opener but have since dropped points against Viking and Arsenal.

Kane is the joint-leading scorer in this season's Champions League with four goals in three games. He leads the standings alongside five other forwards, including Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and Borussia Dortmund's Serhou Guirassy.
