Borussia Dortmund one of 3 European teams with a 100% win record!
Borussia Dortmund are flying right now. With four wins from their opening four games in the new Bundesliga season, the side has laid down an early marker in the race for the Meisterschale. In fact, it's their best start to a top-flight campaign since the 2015-16 season.
While several issues continue to plague the club, such as defense crumbling under pressure or chronic reliance on substitutes, the BVB are somehow getting their job done and now remain the only team with a 100% win record in the German top-flight.
Not even serial champions Bayern Munich can hold a candle to that right now, with the defending champions dropping points against Schalke following a 0-0 draw on matchday two. Freiburg, the only other side with a perfect record until the weekend, drew with Eintracht Frankfurt to see their winning start end too.
Across Europe's top five leagues, only two other teams currently boast 100% record in the new league season.
First off, FC Barcelona. Hansi Flick's side, even after back-to-back LaLiga title wins, are showing no signs of slowing down, winning their first seven games of the competition this season. It's their best ever start to a top-flight campaign, which is quite something.
What's driving their charge for a third consecutive title is their prolific attacking vanguard, which has banged in 31 goals already. Brazilian star Raphinha has been at the forefront with 12 goals to his name, including two hat-tricks.
The other team to have won every single one of their league game this season is Manchester City, which is quite surprising considering how the side is still adapting to life under a new manager and how easily Arsenal beat them in the Community Shield.
Nonetheless, the Sky Blues have managed to shrug off the early-season jitters to find their rhythm again and boast five wins in five Premier League games right now. That run came under threat against Sunderland on Sunday as the match was level at 2-2 at one point, but the former's poor defense means City eventually won 5-3 on the day to keep their winning run intact.
Safe to say, Borussia Dortmund are in good company. We haven't seen anything quite like this in years. Although it's still early days and we have another 30 games to go, fans can be excused for feeling excited about the season and perhaps, dreaming about their first Bundesliga crown since 2012 too.
