Before the Leipzig clash: what has Mourinho's Real offered on home soil?

Real Madrid dominate at the Santiago Bernabéu

Real Madrid host Leipzig at the Santiago Bernabeu this Wednesday evening in the third round of the UEFA Champions League, backed by a flawless home record this season. Jose Mourinho's side have won all six matches played at their stadium.

Those victories came against Real Sociedad 4-1, Malaga 4-0, Rayo Vallecano 4-1, Sevilla 4-1, Inter Milan 2-1 and Villarreal 1-0.

Four of those wins arrived by a comfortable margin. Inter Milan and Villarreal were seen off by a single goal.

That perfect home record masks a season that hasn't been without its stumbles. Real Madrid have lost twice away in La Liga, first against Real Betis (1-0) and then at the hands of fierce neighbours Atletico Madrid (2-1).

Mourinho's men go into today's match ninth in the Champions League table with 6 points, while Leipzig sit 23rd with 3.

The Leipzig clash lands just a few days before Real Madrid travel to Barcelona at the Spotify Camp Nou next Sunday in La Liga, a fixture that carries huge weight in the race for the domestic title.
