Bayern paying ‘close attention’ to £14.2m attacker
Bayern Munich are showing strong interest in Borussia Monchengladbach attacker Wael Mohya.
The Bavarian giants are always on the lookout for top talents in Germany, and Mohya is certainly one of them.
Strengthening their attacking options could be a priority for Vincent Kompany in the upcoming transfer windows, with Mohya potentially coming under consideration.
Bayern Munich eye move for Wael Mohya?
Christian Falk has exclusively told CFBayern Insider that Bayern are closely monitoring Mohya’s development at Gladbach.
The 17-year-old has made seven Bundesliga appearances, starting four of them, and has registered two goals and an assist.
The youngster has caught the eye with his performances for Gladbach and played a major role in his side’s 3-2 victory over VfB Stuttgart.
Falk says that Mohya would not be an expensive signing, with his value estimated at around €17m (£14.2m).
However, Bayern may have to pay more to secure the youngster’s signature.
Mohya is not the only player on Bayern’s shortlist, with Falk revealing that the club are also targeting players from Portugal and the Premier League.
Falk said: “It is TRUE: Bayern Munich are paying close attention to Wael Mohya (17). I can say that Bayern knocked on the door of Mohya’s side. He’s an interesting player and, as we’ve mentioned before, Bayern are looking to bolster their offensive ranks. The teenager is more of a central player but he can also play on the left wing.
“He’s young and not so expensive at the moment, with a contract running until 2028. The value is around €17m [£14.2m] but I think Bayern Munich would have to pay more than that. Nonetheless, this is one idea they have inside the club and Mohya is on the shortlist. I can say that there are also players from Portugal and from the Premier League on the shortlist. One player, as everyone knows, is at Liverpool.”
Gladbach’s plans to keep Mohya
Monchengladbach are reportedly ready to reward Mohya for his impressive performances with a new contract running until 2028.
The youngster currently earns just over €1m per year, including bonuses, but the proposed deal would see his salary almost double.
It would also send a clear message to the rest of the league that Gladbach are not willing to lose their prized asset without a fight.
