Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund: Last 5 Bundesliga meetings, reviewed
Bayern Munich host Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga on Saturday as the rivals lock horns for the second time this season. They previously met in the 2026 Franz Beckenbauer Supercup in August, which the Bavarians won 2-1 in Dortmund.
The BVB will be gunning for a revenge here but their form has grown patchy following a fast start, while their recent wins have also been by just a one-goal margin, including a 3-2 defeat of Werder Bremen in the DFB-Pokal on Tuesday. By contrast, Bayern thumped Magdeburg 6-1.
Here's how the rivals stack up in their last five head-to-head games:
Bayern Munich 0-2 Borussia Dortmund (March 2024)
This was a real shocker from Dortmund. Having gone years without even a point at the Allianz Arena, they managed to outright beat the Bavarians here to finally break the jinx. Karim Adeyemi drew the first blood in the 10th minute before Julian Ryerson consolidated the win late on. This was BVB's first win away to Bayern since April 2017 and a first in the Bundesliga since April 2014.
Borussia Dortmund 1-1 Bayern Munich (November 2024)
Dortmund came agonizingly close to a second consecutive Der Klassiker win here as Jamie Gittens' 27th-minute strike had their noses in front. But Jamal Musiala saved Bayern the blushes with an 85th-minute equalizer.
Bayern Munich 2-2 Borussia Dortmund (April 2025)
Niko Kovac's first Klassiker as the BVB manager also ended in a draw. Following a tense opening half that produced nothing to separate the sides, Maximilian Beier fired the visitors in front in the 48th minute, but Raphael Guerreiro and Serge Gnabry scored within minutes of each other after the hour mark to but the Bavarians in front. Waldemar Anton made sure Dortmund walked away with at least a point by making it 2-2 in the 75th minute.
Bayern Munich 2-1 Borussia Dortmund (October 2025)
Dortmund's unbeaten start to the 2025-26 season ended here with Harry Kane and Michael Olise scoring a goal apiece in each half before Julian Brandt pulled a consolation strike back for the visitors.
Borussia Dortmund 2-3 Bayern Munich (February 2026)
Since the last Der Klassiker, Dortmund went their next 17 games unbeaten, until they came up against Bayer again, and lost again. Nico Schlotterbeck's opener was canceled out by a Harry Kane double. Daniel Svensson made it 2-2 in the 83rd minute and seemed to have won a point for the Black and Yellow but Joshua Kimmich ruined the celebrations with the winner, four minutes later.
