At the Allianz Arena, Bayern made a bright start against Magdeburg in their DFB Pokal second-round matchup, taking the lead after just ten minutes. Lennart Karl played an excellent through ball to Ismael Saibari, who squared iy for Michael Olise. The winger was left with a simple finish to put the home side ahead.

Magdeburg were undeterred by the early setback and soon found an equalizer. Mateusz Żukowski’s effort took a deflection on its way in, leaving Jonas Urbig somewhat unlucky to concede. Bayern weren't phased by the equalizer in the slightest, re-taking the lead just six minutes later through Ismael Saibari.

Bayern responded through the same two players, this time with their roles reversed. Olise supplied the pass, and Saibari applied the finishing touch. He lifted the ball over the keeper to restore the lead.

The visitors continued to threaten, however, and Barış Atik struck the post shortly before the half time whistle. Bayern went into the break 2–1 ahead, but Magdeburg had shown they were still very much in the contest.

Olise doubles his tally

After the restart, substitute Alphonso Davies was involved as Bayern extended their advantage. The Canadian was brought down inside the penalty area, giving Olise the chance to score his second from the spot. The Frenchman made no mistake, converting to put Bayern 3–1 up. The home side now had a two-goal cushion early in the second half.

Bayern continued to take control and were rewarded again in the 70th minute. Lennart Karl was involved in the build-up before Davies applied the finish, making it 4–1. Just three minutes later, Davies supplied Nathaniel Brown, who added the fifth. The two goals in quick succession put the result beyond Magdeburg, whose first-half challenge had not been matched after the break.

Davies, thus, helped Bayern pull clear and Kane did not play at all

There was still time for Bayern to add another in stoppage time, and that's exactly what they did. Josie Stanišić set up David Santos Daiber, who applied the finishing touch for his debut goal, to complete a 6–1 win. Bayern had scored four unanswered goals in the second half, turning a narrow halftime lead into a comfortable victory.

Harry Kane remained on the bench throughout, as the Ballon d'Or winner was given a much-deserved night off. In his absence, Olise contributed two goals and an assist, while Davies won the penalty, scored, and set up Brown. Magdeburg had made Bayern work for their lead before the interval, but the hosts’ second-half display proved decisive. Bayern are now into the DFB Pokal third-round, with their next opponent to be drawn on November 1st.
