Bayern Munich have begun contract extension talks with their talisman Harry Kane, club sporting director Max Eberl has confirmed.
The England captain has 18 months left on his current deal with the Bundesliga champions, and expected to put pen to paper until 2028 or 2029.
It's believed that Kane is happy to extend his stay in Munich, hinting at a possible new deal before the World Cup to put all rumors to bed.
Kane to not trigger release clause option
While Eberl confessed that they are in talks with the 32-year-old, Bayern president Herbert Hainer mentioned, "We have one and a half years left on the current deal, and he is playing at a high level. I am convinced that he likes it in Munich and that he is very happy. We will have talks. I assume he will make it dependent on his future plans. But I am of the full conviction that Bayern have a very good chance."
He has a release clause for the summer worth roughly £56 million, but will not trigger the option as he continues his march towards the European golden boot.
Kane has netted 34 goals across 30 appearances for Bayern this season as the Bavarian giants appear set to clinch back-to-back titles.
Shedding light on his future in 2025, he had said, "I'm quite open to staying longer. They way we are right now and the way we are playing, I feel we are one of the best teams in Europe, for sure. I don't look at any other team and think, 'I want to go there.' I'm really happy here. I've got 18 months on my contract and I'm sure there will be discussions in the future."
Bayern faced competition from European counterparts
All of Manchester United, former club Tottenham Hotspur and FC Barcelona were said to be keeping tabs on Kane's situation at Bayern.
The latter are set to lose Robert Lewandowski, 37, whose contract expires come the end of this season.
Kane has been involved in over a third of Bayern's goals this season, highlighting the impact he's had since joining from Spurs in 2023.
He will be looking to add to his tally of 119 goals for the club as they look to bounce back on Wednesday against PSV Eindhoven.
