Vincent Kompany has apparently suffered another injury as a result of his collapse at Bayern Munich’s training ground.

As first reported by tz and later by the Bild newspaper, the coach of the German record champions also dislocated his shoulder when he fell.

While watching the second team train at Bayern Munich's Säbener Straße training ground last Friday, Kompany collapsed for reasons still unknown.

The 40-year-old was taken to hospital immediately and is still receiving treatment and undergoing tests. Doctors have yet to make a precise diagnosis, but Bayern Munich have already said there is no cause for alarm regarding his health.

"I visited Vince in hospital yesterday. He is in good spirits. It looks as though he is getting better every day. That is very positive," said assistant coach Aaron Danks, who is standing in for Kompany, at the press conference ahead of the cup match against 1. FC Magdeburg.

Why did Vincent Kompany collapse?

On the day of his collapse, Kompany complained of severe headaches, according to the report. He has since undergone extensive neurological examinations.

According to Bild, doctors are currently focusing on a head-related issue as they work towards a diagnosis. Examinations quickly ruled out a stroke and a heart attack.

In the days before his collapse, Kompany had also been struggling with a viral infection. As a result, he missed the final training session and the press conference ahead of the Champions League match against Arsenal (2-2), among other things.

How long the 40-year-old will be out of action remains unclear. According to Bild, a return for the matches against Dortmund (31.10.), away to Atletico Madrid (3.11.) and against Mainz (7.11.) has been ruled out. Kompany may be able to make his comeback after the international break in November.
