It's been quite a good week for Bayern fans. Harry Kane's Ballon d'Or victory on Monday followed by FC Bayern's 6-1 DFB Pokal win over FC Magdeburg have helped bring some joy back to fans after a rough start to the season both on and off the pitch. Bayern fans have been waiting patiently for good news to come their way, and despite all the good that has come this week, there is still one more piece of good news Bayern fans are waiting on.

Harry Kane has been in talks with the club for months over a new contract extension, with few updates coming. However, thankfully, Bayern's CEO has finally given fans the update they have been waiting for.

While speaking with Kicker this week, Bayern Munich CEO, Jan-Christian Dreesen reassured everyone that Harry Kane's contract extension is nearly complete, with just some of the small details left to be sorted. Dreesen went on to say:

We're working on the details, that simply takes a few days. It's normal when lawyers exchange the finer points with one another. We had already discussed and negotiated all the important issues before the Ballon d'Or ceremony. Jan-Christian Dreesen

Harry Kane's future won't be anywhere other than the Allianz Arena

Kane's current contract expires next summer, and with everything the club has achieved since bringing the Englishman in, it's not surprising that the club is pushing to tie him down for a few more years. He's established himself as the focal point of Vincent Kompany's attack, both for his goal-scoring consistency and his playmaking, which has taken a step up this season.

He's scored an incredible 156 goals in 159 games for Bayern, including his remarkable 73 goal season last campaign, culminating in his 2026 Ballon d'Or victory. He's proven that at 33-years-old he is still not just one of the best strikers, but one of the best players in the world, a player Bayern are truly lucky to have.

What exactly his new extension will look like remains somewhat unknown at the moment, but given his age, one can assume it will most likely be a two-year extension with an option for a further year. Kane doesn't seem interested in going anywhere, so Bayern aren't under any pressure from other clubs to get the deal done, but getting it done and out of the way sooner rather than later is the best option, as it would help to eliminate any distractions while Bayern are on the hunt for silverware this season.
