Air ambulance at Bayern Munich training ground: serious concern for Vincent Kompany
Vincent Kompany was taken to hospital on Friday afternoon. An air ambulance helicopter landed on Bayern Munich's training pitch for the Belgian manager, BILD reports.
A viral infection struck Kompany last weekend. He had to lie down in his manager's room during and after the match against RB Leipzig (6-1).
On Monday and Tuesday, he missed Bayern's training sessions. He then left the press conference ahead of the Champions League match against Arsenal (2-2) to his assistant.
BILD reports that the viral infection has caused problems with 'old scar tissue', making it difficult for the former Manchester City player to move around at present.
After the match against Arsenal, the Belgian said at the press conference: "As a coach, you always want to do everything and achieve everything. I caught a pretty nasty virus last week and, of course, I didn't listen to my body. At a certain point, my body said: Stop now!"
Why Kompany was taken to hospital by ambulance on Friday is not yet known. According to BILD, there is 'great concern' for the Bayern manager.
