England will aim to register back-to-back wins when they lock horns with West Indies in Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on 12th February.

Both sides kickstarted their campaigns with victories, albeit England had to snatch theirs from the jaws of defeat whilst defending 184 against a lesser fancied Nepal side.

A battle between power hitters

Fifties from Jacob Bethell (55 of 35) and skipper Harry Brook (52 of 32) took the two-time T20 World Cup winners to 184/7.

Will Jacks struck a scintillating 39 of just 18 deliveries - featuring four maximums - after it appeared as though the breaks were applied by Nepal, with overs 14 to 17 yielding merely 19 runs.

And when Lokesh Bam (39 of 20) wreaked havoc and nearly propelled Nepal to the most historic win in their history, Sam Curran's brilliant last over meant that the Three Lions prevented an early upset. One could argue it was a tale of two final overs, as England notched 21 off the 20th over of their innings.

It was lesser tense for the Windies, who brushed Scotland aside in their Group C clash, posting 182/5 thanks to a fiery 36-ball 64 from Shimron Hetmyer, before an eventful hattrick from Romario Shepherd (3-0-20-5) and a three-fer by Jason Holder completed an all-round display.

And although it was a memorable bowling performance, West Indies have been leaking runs heading into the tournament.

They conceded 182 against Afghanistan in the warm-up, before which South Africa chased down 173 and 221 inside 18 overs in the bilateral. And England will believe batting is their stronger suit, too.

That would inevitably lead to a high-scoring affair in one of the most popular boundary-striking grounds in the world.

While Phil Salt bats in a dimension of his own, the men from the Caribbean have a power-packed middle order in Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford and Romario Shepherd. Add to that the batting depth that both sides possess, the ingredients are in place for a high-scoring contest.

With plenty of match-winners on both sides, it could once again come down to who holds their nerve with the ball.

Most 6s - England

Brook and co. haven't lost a T20I game since September 2025. Much to that is due to their six-hitting across phases of the game.

Not only did they outmuscle Nepal when it came to clearing the ropes in their opener, they scored more sixes than Sri Lanka across their three-match series.

England blasted 11 sixes versus Nepal, and they have plenty of batters in their ranks who are accustomed to the conditions in Mumbai through their IPL exploits.

Playing a consecutive game in the same ground also helps, markedly for a few of the bowlers who had an off day.

Top Run Scorer (England) - Jos Buttler

Prior to the start of the tournament, England's most prolific run scorer in the tournament's history, Jos Buttler, was 279 runs behind Virat Kohli in the all-time scoring charts in Men's T20 World Cups.

The 35-year-old brings a wealth of experience to table, having mastered the art of shifting gears through his innings across varied conditions.

He averages 34 against the West Indies, striking it at nearly 145 with a top score of 96.

He looked in ominous touch against Nepal, striking five boundaries in his 26 of 17, before edging a wider, seam up delivery to Aasif Sheikh.

That brief but fluent stay was another reminder of Buttler's prowess on the big stage. And a big return could be around the corner.
