Christian Eriksen has had his Inter Milan contract terminated by mutual consent.

The Denmark midfielder has not played since suffering a cardiac arrest on the pitch during his country’s Euro 2020 game against Finland in June.

The 29-year-old has an implantable cardioverter defibrillator fitted, which is banned under Serie A rules.

There has been no confirmation as to whether the ex-Tottenham man will continue with his professional football career outside of Italy.

A club statement read: "Inter Milan can confirm that an agreement has been reached to terminate Christian Eriksen's contract by mutual consent.

"The club and the entire Nerazzurri family wish Christian all the very best for his future.

"Although Inter and Christian are now parting ways, the bond shall never be broken.

"The good times, the goals, the victories, those Scudetto celebrations with fans outside San Siro — all this will remain forever in Nerazzurri history."

It was announced earlier this month that Eriksen was training alone with local club Odense Boldklub as he begins his recovery.

Eriksen represented OB from 2005 to 2008 before joining Ajax, where he went on to win three Eredivisie titles.

The midfield maestro later spent seven years in England with Spurs before signing for Inter in January 2020.

Eriksen was part of the Inter side which won the Serie A title under Antonio Conte last season.
