Ceri Holland is confident Liverpool can climb the WSL table

Ceri Holland believes Liverpool are perfectly placed to finish their first season back in the Women's Super League on a high.

After winning promotion from the Championship last term, Matt Beard's Reds are in the relative safety of eighth with seven games to play.

And Wales midfielder Holland, who joined the Merseysiders in January 2021, is delighted not to be caught up in a relegation battle.

Speaking ahead of her team's trip to West Ham on Sunday, she said: "It's nice we're looking up rather than down.

"There's a lot of positivity around the training ground and the squad and it's a nice position to not be in the relegation battle.

"But the job is not done and we know that with a couple of poor performances we would be down there.

"Beardy keeps our feet on the ground and says we need to keep working hard, stay focused and get as many points as we can."

After West Ham, Liverpool's fixture list sees them host second-bottom Brighton before travelling to basement side Leicester.

And Holland, 25, has her sights set on climbing the table.

She told Liverpoolfc.com: "It's a great opportunity for us to jump above West Ham and then chase down Everton, so we're really excited for the weekend.

"If we can go ahead of West Ham in the table going into the international break, that will be a good place for us to be in.

"We've then got Brighton at home and Leicester away, so we'd like to think we can get maximum points and put ourselves in a good position — kind of where we hoped we'd be at the start of the season."
