Birmingham Phoenix vs Trent Rockets predictions: Duckett to play starring role
- Birmingham beat Trent in the reverse fixture at Trent Bridge
- Ben Duckett has scored 210 runs from four innings
- Recommended bet: Duckett to be Birmingham's top run scorer
There is plenty at stake in Monday's clash between Birmingham Phoenix and Trent Rockets in the Hundred at Edgbaston, with both sides battling to reach the knockout stages of the competition.
A win would move Birmingham a step closer to a top-three finish and also end the Rockets' hopes of advancing, but success for the visitors would keep their hopes of progressing alive.
Team news
After two convincing victories in a row, Birmingham are expected to stick with the same starting XI that defeated the Welsh Fire by five wickets last time out.
Despite being available for the last two matches, England international Chris Woakes has not been chosen, but he is an option if the Phoenix decide to change things.
Trent are unlikely to make any alterations from the team that were edged out by Southern Brave, with Tom Banton, Alex Hales, Joe Root and Adam Lyth part of a strong batting unit.
The stats
Birmingham are on a two-match winning streak, firstly thumping the Northern Superchargers by 10 wickets before easing to a five-wicket success over the Welsh Fire.
The Phoenix have won four and lost two of their six matches, leaving them on eight points and in a strong position to reach the knockout stage for the first time since the inaugural edition in 2021.
Ben Duckett is Birmingham's leading run scorer in the tournament, scoring 210 runs from four innings, while he also leads his side's sixes charts with eight.
Trent have lost three of their last four matches, most recently suffering a two-wicket defeat to Southern Brave.
The Rockets lost the reverse fixture at Trent Bridge in July by six runs.
Of the seven meetings between the pair, Birmingham have won four times, Trent have triumphed twice and there has been one no result.
Prediction
Birmingham have been building nicely with two victories in a row and they should have enough to get the better of the Rockets, who have been inconsistent in this competition and failed to hold their nerve against the Brave last time out.
Priced at 17/20 to win with LiveScore Bet, the Phoenix do not offer much value in the match result market and it may prove prudent to look at the top run scorer market for the hosts, with Ben Duckett the standout.
The England international missed the first two games due to his involvement in the Test series against the West Indies, but he has made up for that since returning with scores of 21, 92, 43* and 54*.
Duckett has also cleared the rope eight times, the most of any Birmingham player, and the in-form batter looks capable of topping Birmingham's runs charts on Monday.
