Bundesliga Table Explained

The Bundesliga table ranks all 18 clubs in Germany's top flight as they battle for the title. Our league table is your go-to guide for tracking the progress of every team, from the perennial title contenders to those fighting to avoid relegation. It is updated after every match to give you the latest picture of the exciting German football landscape.

How to Read the Bundesliga Table

Our Bundesliga standings are designed to give you a clear and comprehensive overview. At a glance, you will see the number of matches played, the goal difference, and the total points for each club. We also provide a full breakdown of each team's record, including wins, draws, and losses, as well as the total goals scored and conceded. You can review all the latest scores on our Bundesliga results page.

To provide deeper insight, we have broken the main league table into three additional views:

  • Home Standings: This section shows each club's complete record (wins, draws, losses, goal difference) but only for matches played at their home ground. This is perfect for identifying the teams that have turned their stadium into a fortress.

  • Away Standings: In contrast, the away table reveals how each team performs on the road. This can highlight resilient sides that are just as effective away from home, which is often a key indicator of a team's true quality.

  • Form: The form guide shows each team's results over their last five matches. This is a great way to gauge current momentum, spot in-form teams, and identify potential upsets ahead of the upcoming games listed on our fixtures page.

European Qualification and Relegation

The Bundesliga table also clearly shows what each club is fighting for. The top four teams automatically qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage, a prize that brings both prestige and financial reward. The fifth-placed team secures a spot in the UEFA Europa League, while sixth place earns a place in the UEFA Europa Conference League play-offs.

At the other end of the table, the battle is just as intense. The bottom two teams (17th and 18th) are automatically relegated to the 2. Bundesliga. The team finishing in 16th place enters a tense two-legged relegation play-off against the third-placed team from the second tier to decide the final spot in the following season's Bundesliga.
