1X2 is a bet on a match result, with three possible outcomes: 1 for a home win, X for a draw, and 2 for an away win. You pick one, and the bet wins only if the match ends that way.
It is the first market most punters in Uganda see on a football fixture, from the Premier League to the Uganda Premier League. This guide explains what each symbol means, how a 1X2 bet is settled, how the odds work in UGX and how 1X2 differs from double chance.

1X2 means home win (1), draw (X) or away win (2). The numbers follow the order of the teams in the fixture: the first team listed is the home side, and the second is the away side.
Some bookmakers label the same outcomes W1 and W2 for the two teams. You may also see the market called "full-time result", "match result" or "three-way" betting, because it has three outcomes rather than two.
Because the draw has its own selection, 1X2 suits football, where draws are common. In sports where draws are rare, bookmakers often offer a two-way winner market instead. 1X2 is also the format of most weekly jackpots, where you predict the result of every match on a fixed list.
A full-time 1X2 bet is settled on the result after 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Extra time and penalty shoot-outs do not count, even in cup matches that need a winner.
So if a CECAFA Cup knockout match is 1-1 after 90 minutes and goes to penalties, a bet on X wins loses; a bet on either team to win wins, whoever goes through. If you want a market that includes extra time, bookmakers list it separately, often as "to qualify" or "to lift the trophy".
Many bookmakers also offer a first half 1X2, settled on the score at half-time only. Check the market name on your bet slip, because a first half bet ignores everything after the break.
If a match is postponed, many bookmakers void the bet and return your stake when the new date falls outside a set window. At some sites, that window is 48 hours from the original kick-off, so check your bookmaker's rules.
If a match is abandoned before full time, bookmakers usually refund an unsettled 1X2 bet. Markets decided before the stoppage, such as a first-half result, still stand.
Your potential return on a 1X2 bet is your stake multiplied by the decimal odds of your selection. The favourite has the shortest odds, the outsider the longest, and the draw usually sits between them.
Take an illustrative league match with these odds, not prices for a real fixture:
1 (home win): 2.10
X (draw): 3.30
2 (away win): 3.60
A stake of UGX 10,000 on 1 returns UGX 21,000 if the home side wins. The same stake on X returns UGX 33,000 if the match ends level.
Since 1 July 2026, licensed operators in Uganda deduct a 15% withholding tax on your net winnings before they pay you. Net winnings are your return minus your stake.
In the home win example above, your net winnings are UGX 11,000. The operator withholds UGX 1,650 and pays you UGX 19,350.
You can turn decimal odds into the bookmaker's implied chance by dividing 1 by the odds. Odds of 2.10 imply about 48%, 3.30 about 30% and 3.60 about 28%.
Those three figures add up to more than 100%. The extra is the bookmaker's margin, which is why the odds on all three outcomes pay less than their true chances would suggest.
A 1X2 bet covers one outcome, while double chance covers two outcomes in a single bet. Double chance offers three options: 1X (home win or draw), X2 (away win or draw) and 12 (either team wins, no draw).
Because double chance wins in more situations, its odds are lower. In the example match, 1X might be priced around 1.30, so UGX 10,000 would return UGX 13,000 instead of UGX 21,000 for a straight home win.
Neither market is better. 1X2 pays more for a narrower prediction, and double chance pays less for wider cover. Choose the one that matches how confident you are about the match.
1X2 selections are the most common legs in a multibet, because every football fixture has them. When you combine several, the odds multiply, and every leg must win, as our guide to multibets explains.
Adding a draw to an acca raises the combined odds, but draws are harder to predict than wins. For that reason, many punters keep the number of legs small.
If you want to go further than the result and name the exact score, correct score betting pays higher odds but is much harder to get right.
You place a 1X2 bet from the match page in a few taps, at any of the licensed betting sites in Uganda we review.
Log in or register. You must be 25 or older to open an account.
Fund your account. Most sites accept MTN Mobile Money (MoMo) and Airtel Money.
Open the fixture. Go to the football section and choose the match.
Find the 1X2 market. It usually sits at the top of the match page as "1X2" or "Match Result".
Tap 1, X or 2. The selection is added to your bet slip.
Enter your stake in UGX and confirm. Check the potential return before you place the bet.
The same steps apply to every market covered in our Uganda sports betting strategy guides, from totals to jackpots.
You must be 25 or older to bet in Uganda, and betting should always be entertainment, never a way to make money. Set a budget before you start and avoid raising your stakes to chase a loss.
Licensed operators offer deposit limits, time-outs, and self-exclusion. Every operator you use should hold a licence from the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board, which also runs its own self-exclusion form.
