Tanzania’s Road to AFCON 2027 as Co-Host

Taifa Stars Squad and Current Form 

As the Taifa Stars gear up for AFCON 2027, they will be looking to improve on their last outing. After reaching the round of 16 for the first time at AFCON 2025 in Morocco, the team exited the previous edition after falling 1-0 to Morocco. 

After guiding the team to the last 16 at AFCON 2025, the Tanzania Football Federation rewarded Miguel Gamondi with a two-year contract in February 2026. The Argentine is set to remain in charge ahead of the qualifiers. 

The Gamondi-led team continues to blend experienced international players with domestic league talent. Recent selections have included established names such as Aishi Manula, Simon Msuva, Bakari Mwamnyeto, Feisal Salum, alongside youngsters including Novatus Miroshi and Kelvin John. These names are likely to make the 26-man squad for the upcoming qualifiers.
