Mostbet is an international bookmaker that now takes bets from Tanzania, with accounts in shillings and mobile money in the cashier. It suits punters who like a long sports menu and live betting with cash out.
We went through the Tanzanian sign-up page and the cashier, then spent time in the sports and live sections. We also checked the licence, and that part is worth reading before you deposit.

Short on time? These are the facts that matter most when you open an account from Tanzania.
New customers get 365% on the first deposit plus 125 free spins. That's the offer shown to Tanzanian players who sign up through the link on this page. 18+. T&Cs Apply.
During registration, Mostbet asks you to pick a sports bonus or a casino bonus. If you came for football, choose sports. The free spins are for slots, so they won't add anything to your betting balance.
Here's what the percentage means in shillings. A deposit of TZS 10,000 at 365% would add TZS 36,500 in bonus funds, as long as the maximum bonus allows it. But bonus money is not cash: you have to bet it a set number of times, often on accumulators with minimum odds, before you can withdraw it. Read those rules first, and you won't get a surprise later.
You can open an account in a few minutes with your phone number, your email, one click or a social account. Most Tanzanian players use the phone option.
Open the Mostbet site through the link on this page and tap Registration.
Choose Phone and enter your number after the +255 prefix. Use the number linked to your mobile money wallet.
Select Tanzania as your country and TZS as your currency. Check this twice, because the currency is fixed once the account is open.
Pick the sports welcome bonus and add a promo code if you have one.
Create a password, then type the code Mostbet sends you by SMS.
That's your account open. The bookmaker allows one account per person, and it checks your ID before your first withdrawal. It asks for a passport or a national ID card. The check can take a day or more, so upload your document early and your first payout won't wait.
Logging in later is quick. Tap Log In and enter your phone number or email with your password. If you forget the password, the "Forgot password" link sends a code or reset link to the same number or email.
Football gets most of the attention, but the menu goes well past it. Mostbet lists more than 30 sports, including tennis, basketball, cricket, boxing, MMA, rugby and Formula 1.
In football, you'll find the UEFA Champions League and national leagues from around the world. A typical match page has the 1X2 result, handicaps, total goals, corners and cards, and there are outright markets such as league winner and top scorer.
Esports have their own section, with CS2, Dota 2, League of Legends and Valorant. Virtual sports are there too, for when there's no real match on.
Mostbet calls an accumulator an Express, and it also offers system bets. Here's how an Express adds up. Say you stake TZS 5,000 on three selections at odds of 1.80, 2.00 and 1.50. The combined odds are 5.40, so the potential return is TZS 27,000. All three have to win, though. One wrong result and the whole slip loses.
Yes, you can bet while the match is on, and you can settle many bets early with Cash Out. The live odds move with every goal and every red card, and you can bet on the result, handicaps, totals and the next goal. Many events come with a live video stream or a match tracker, so you can follow the game in the same screen.
There's also a 1-Click Bet setting. You choose your stake in advance, and one tap on the odds places the bet. It's fast, which helps in live markets. But it skips the moment where you check your slip, so keep that stake small.
Cash Out works when your bet is still open. If your selections are winning and you'd rather not wait for the final whistle, you can take the amount offered and close the bet. That amount changes as the game goes on, and Cash Out may not be available on every market.
Like many betting apps in Tanzania, the Mostbet Android app comes as an APK file from the bookmaker's own website, because it's not on Google Play. It needs Android 5.0 or later and takes around 15 to 25 MB.
Open the Mostbet website in your phone's browser and go to the app section.
Download the APK file.
When your phone asks, allow installs from unknown sources.
Open the file, install the app and log in.
Only download it from the official site. APK copies on other websites may not be genuine, and you could put your login details at risk.
The app gives you the full sportsbook plus push notifications for your bets. On iPhone, the mobile site in your browser covers the same features.
Mobile money is the easiest way to fund a Mostbet account. If you're new to mobile money betting, the flow is short: open the cashier, choose your wallet, enter the amount and approve the prompt on your phone with your PIN.
The bookmaker says it doesn't charge a fee on deposits, but your mobile money provider may have its own charges. Withdrawals go back through the cashier, and your account must be verified first. To keep things simple, use a wallet registered in your own name, with the same details as your betting account.
Support is open 24 hours a day, every day. Live chat on the site and in the app is the quickest route, and answers usually come within a few minutes. For documents and account questions, you can email support@mostbet.com, and there's also a Telegram support bot, @mostbetsupport_bot. The site itself works in English and Swahili.
Pros
Cons
Mostbet has a lot for the punter who bets often. The sports list is long, the live section moves fast, and mobile money makes it easy to fund an account in shillings. The welcome offer is generous on paper, but only the full terms tell you what it is worth.
The licence is the weak point. If a GBT licence is the first thing you look for in a bookmaker, Mostbet doesn't tick that box for now.
Mostbet is one of the bookmakers in our Tanzanian betting site reviews, and some of the others there hold a GBT licence.
Gal Sport Betting (GSB) is a local name on the GBT list. It takes mobile money and has a busy live section for football fans.
Betway is also licensed by the GBT. The site works in English and Swahili, and the app is available for Android and iPhone.
Want to compare offers side by side? Both bookmakers also feature on our list of the best betting sites in Tanzania.
You must be 18 or older to bet in Tanzania. Set a budget before you deposit, and treat betting as entertainment, never as income. The GBT's own campaign says it well: "Makinika Kijana, Kubeti Sio Ajira" (be smart, young person: betting is not employment).
The site lets you set limits on your spending and block your own account for a period of time. If betting stops being fun, use those tools, talk to someone you trust, and remember that the Gaming Board of Tanzania offers a toll-free counselling service.
