Jarvis hopeful of big Deauville performance

Trainer William Jarvis says he is optimistic of Lady Bowthorpe's chances of landing the spoils in Sunday's Group 1 Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville. 

Lady Bowthorpe produced a sublime performance to win the Group 1 Sussex Stakes at Goodwood last time out, ending Jarvis' 27-year-wait for a third victory at the top level. 

Up next for the five-year-old mare is a trip to Deauville, her first appearance overseas, and Jarvis is excited to see how his charge gets on against a stellar field. 

He said: "We were absolutely delighted with the way she performed at Goodwood and she has come out of the race well. 

"She's travelled over great, we were slightly worried about that but she's grown up so much and is a very mature and sensible filly now. 

"It's not an easy race by any means — you don't get easy Group 1s — but we are very hopeful that she's going to run a big race. 

"There is slightly less pressure on us this time with the fact that she's a Group 1 winner now and we're looking forward to it." 

Reach For The Moon boosts Classic chances

The John Gosden-trained Reach For The Moon is edging closer to being given a Classic shot after Saturday's commanding victory at Sandown Park in the Solario Stakes. 

Wearing The Queen's silks, the Sea The Stars colt settled in behind in the early stages of the seven-furlong contest before assuming control easily and winning by four lengths after easing down at the line. 

Delighted with the impressive showing, Gosden is already eyeing up the next option for his charge. He said: "You have got to look towards the autumn and we would like to wind up in one of those nice Group Ones. 

"We will see how he is over the next few days and make our decision. He is very progressive and has done everything right. He has developed and strengthened." 

Murtagh weighing up Sonnyboyliston options

Trainer Johnny Murtagh says Sonnyboyliston could be aimed at bigger international targets later this year following his impressive victory in the Ebor Handicap at York on Saturday. 

Under the guidance of Ben Coen, the four-year-old produced a great performance to edge out the quick-finishing Quickthorn and hand Murtagh his second victory in this race as a trainer, following his 2014 success with Mutual Regard. 

Connections are now deliberating where to send the Ebor champion next and although the Melbourne Cup has been top of the pile for sometime now, Murtagh claims the Irish Leger could now be an option. 

He said: "That [the Melbourne Cup] was the plan but I've got him in the Irish Leger [first] and we'll have to seriously think about that." 

Bin Suroor confirms Ascot plan

Trainer Saeed bin Suroor has confirmed the plan is for Real World to finish off his season with a run in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on Champions Day in October. 

Real World produced a dominant performance to win the Group Three Strensall Stakes at York on Saturday and connections are already weighing up the next outing. 

Bin Suroor has revealed a trip to Ascot is the end goal for this season but he hinted there could be another outing before that shot at the Queen Elizabeth. 

He said: "We may take Real World to Newmarket first or to France, but the race for him at the end of the season is the QEII as we speak. He's a nice horse, but he needs to improve more."
