Australia retain the Ashes with a comfortable win in the fourth match and first T20I of the multi-format series. After being sent in to bat, Australia piled on the runs. Voll, Litchfield, and McGrath all chipped in with 20+ runs each but it was Beth Mooney who took control of the innings, finding the boundary 11 times on her way to 75 from 51 balls. While it seemed difficult to rotate the strike, Australia constantly found the fence and the runs kept flowing. Although offering a few cheap dismissals, the hosts made 7/198 from their 20 overs which was always going to be tough to chase down. Despite losing both openers without scoring, England kept the run chase within reach due to a stunning innings of 59 off 30 from Sophia Dunkley. In fact, at the 10-over mark they were ahead of where Australia were at the same point, however they couldn't maintain the rate and once Heather Knight and Dunkley fell quickly after drinks, the rest of the batting order fell away, Georgia Wareham taking 3-25 as they slumped to 141 all out in 16 overs, 57 short of their target. Beth Mooney was deservedly adjudged Player of the Match for her role in Australia's series-clinching victory tonight. There's plenty more to play for in the series, with two more T20Is and a Test match still to come.
