Learoyd was the star on Day 1, firing an unbeaten 142 as wickets fell around her. Lucy Finn (59) was the only other player to stick around, they combined for 145 in the lower-middle order. Only one batter passed 50 for CA Green in response, although a crucial tenth-wicket partnership minimised the damage. Learoyd's 68 not out in the third innings put the game well in control for CA Gold, allowing their spinners (Nicklin 4/26, Mills 3/16) to utilise the aging pitch and seal victory. Other highlights from this afternoon were a direct-hit run out from Sianna Ginger and Courtney Neale's terrific outfield catch. It was a promising display of red-ball talent across the board with plenty of names to remember for the future.
