Nottingham Forest welcome Manchester City to the City Ground on Sunday in a match that could have huge implications at both ends of the Premier League table.

Forest head into the weekend sitting just a point and place outside the relegation zone following a three-match winless run, while City have their title destiny in their own hands as they sit just a point behind leaders Arsenal but with a game in hand.

Pep Guardiola's side are unbeaten in their last 18 Premier League games and they will expect to keep their title challenge on track by collecting all three points from their jaunt along the River Trent.

Team news

Forest have no fresh injury concerns to contend with but defender Willy Boly remains unavailable, while forward Taiwo Awoniyi is a major doubt due to an ongoing thigh issue.

Erling Haaland remains City's only fitness concern — the Norwegian having missed his side's last two matches with a minor muscle issue.

With the games having come thick and fast for City of late — most recently Thursday's 4-0 win at Brighton — Guardiola could choose to rotate his starting XI, with the likes of John Stones, Ruben Dias, Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku pushing for recalls.

The stats

Forest have won just one of their last 10 matches across all competitions, although they are unbeaten in three at the City Ground.

Goals have also not been an issue for Nuno Espirito Santo's side of late, as they have netted in five of their last six games, although a 10-match sequence without a clean-sheet does underline where their problems lie.

City are unbeaten in their last 18 Premier League matches (W14, D4), with their most recent defeat in the division coming against Aston Villa in early December.

The Citizens have scored at least four goals in each of their last four Premier League matches.

September's reverse meeting at the Etihad Stadium ended in a 2-0 win for City, but Forest did take something from last season's clash at the City Ground which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Prediction

By the time Sunday's match kicks off, Forest could find themselves in the relegation zone and the gap between City and the leaders Arsenal could be back up to four points.

That would certainly increase the magnitude of this clash, but in truth this is a game City should win given their ongoing 18-match unbeaten league run and Forest's own struggles for results.

However, it is worth noting that Forest did take a point off City in last season's corresponding fixture and having scored in five of their last six games, the Tricky Trees can also register in this one.

City have conceded against Luton, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa over recent weeks and Forest can add their name to that list, although like those three teams, they are likely to emerge from this contest with zero points.
