Over 2.5 goals

Wolves fell to a 3-0 defeat at Newcastle last weekend, but their form at Molineux has been strong for most of the season and they should be positive when they entertain Fulham on Saturday.

The Cottagers, meanwhile, should also be full of confidence after wins over Brighton and Manchester United recently, not to mention their 3-2 success over Gary O’Neil’s team at Craven Cottage in November.

Team news

Wolves will go into battle without forwards Hee Chan Hwang and Matheus Cunha, who are ruled out through injury, but hopes are high that Jose Sa and Pedro Neto will both be fit. Joao Gomes, however, remains sidelined.

Fulham will be boosted by Joao Palhinha’s return from suspension while striker Raul Jimenez is the only confirmed absentee with a thigh injury.

The stats

Gary O'Neil's Wolves have been tough to beat at Molineux this season, losing just four of their 13 home league games
Gary O'Neil's Wolves have been tough to beat at Molineux this season, losing just four of their 13 home league games

Both teams have scored in nine of Wolves’ 13 home league games this season.

Just three of Fulham’s last 16 Premier League games have failed to produce at least three goals.

Wolves have lost just two of their last 11 league home matches.

Four of Fulham’s five draws this season have come on the road.

The Cottagers have kept a clean sheet in just one of their last 12 league away matches.

Prediction

Fulham and Wolves produced five goals when they met at Craven Cottage in November and there looks a strong chance that their meeting on Saturday could prove as equally competitive and entertaining.

Wolves need to pick themselves up after falling to a 3-0 loss at Newcastle last week but there looks a strong chance they will put that down as a blip when they return to Molineux.

Their home form suggests there is sufficient reason for them to be confident as they have lost just two of their last 13 at Molineux in all competitions and one of those defeats came in unfortunate circumstances against Manchester United.

And they have also posted strong away wins at Brentford, Chelsea and Tottenham recently so they should be positive despite the fact that Matheus Cunha and Hee Chan Hwang have been ruled out.

Fulham, who welcome back key midfielder Palhinha from suspension, struggle to keep clean sheets on the road, but a 2-1 success at Old Trafford gave them only their second away victory of the season last month and they can build on that, especially after a strong showing in last week’s 3-0 win over Brighton.

Expect both teams to be positive, which should lead to a few goals in the Black Country.
