Watford are no strangers to a managerial sacking so Hornets boss Valerien Ismael may be on thin ice after overseeing a run of five defeats in six Championship games.

They dominated possession on their weekend trip to lowly Millwall but mustered only three shots on target in a 1-0 defeat and they will be desperate to stop the rot in Wednesday's home fixture against Swansea.

The mid-table Swans have found some form under former Notts County manager Luke Williams and they have won their last two away games at Hull and Sunderland.

Team news

Watford have no fresh injury concerns. Ryan Andrews could be set for a start at right-back with Tom Dele-Bashiru coming into midfield and the fit-again Vakoun Bayo leading the line.

Swansea striker Jerry Yates is pushing for a start but Liam Walsh and Josh Ginnelly are injured. Newcastle loanee Harrison Ashby faces a fitness test.

The stats

Swansea have struggled against the best teams in the Championship this season, losing nine of their 10 matches against sides who started the week in the top five.

Wednesday's hosts Watford are well below that level on current form and it may be worth backing the Swans to deepen the gloom at Vicarage Road.

The Welsh raiders have made fast starts in their recent wins at Hull and Sunderland and it was a similar story when they beat Blackburn 2-1 at home on Saturday.

Joe Allen and Jamie Paterson put them 2-0 up against Rovers inside 19 minutes. They also scored twice in the first half-hour at Sunderland and beat Hull 1-0 thanks to an 11th-minute goal from Liam Cullen.

Given the lack of confidence in the Watford camp, Swansea look an appealing bet to be leading at half-time and full-time.

The Hornets' reverse at Millwall made it back-to-back defeats against teams involved in the relegation scrap as they let slip a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1 to Huddersfield in their last home match.

Those results do not bode well for their clash with a Swansea side who appear to be finding their feet under manager Williams.
