Manchester United are closing in on a deal to sign highly-rated Napoli defender Minjae Kim.

Kim, 26, arrived in Italy off the back of an impressive season with Turkish giants Fenerbache and was part of a title-winning side in his first year in Serie A.

According to Calciomercato, the South Korean centre-back could be on the move again this summer, with Erik ten Hag keen on bolstering his defence.

The 6ft 3in powerhouse reportedly has a release clause that can be activated in the first two weeks of July, costing any interested club around £60million.

Italian sources go on to claim that talks have already taken place between the Red Devils and the 47-cap international, with Kim keen on a potential transfer.

A £7m-per-year contract has supposedly been drawn up but now both parties must wait until next month to finalise an agreement.

Luciano Spalletti's champions boasted the best defensive record in Serie A, conceding only 28 goals in 38 games.

Kim featured in 35 of those outings, as well as playing nine times in the Partenopei's run to the Champions League quarter-finals.
