Tottenham and over 3.5 goals

Tottenham’s four-game Premier League losing sequence is their longest since 2004, but they will expect to deliver a response at home to second-bottom Burnley, who are on the brink of relegation.

Despite their recent slump, Spurs retain an outside chance of challenging Aston Villa for Champions League qualification.

The Londoners will be going all out for the three points and a similar mindset will apply to Burnley, who need a maximum to retain any hope of top-flight survival.

Burnley have been more competitive in recent weeks, but they lost 4-1 at home to Newcastle last Saturday and are now five points adrift of safety with two games remaining.

Team news

Tottenham are expected to finish the season without Timo Werner (hamstring), Ben Davies (calf), Manor Solomon (knee), Fraser Forster (ankle), Ryan Sessegnon and Destiny Udogie (both thigh).

Richarlison contributed an assist and a goal after coming off the bench at Liverpool last Sunday and is pushing for a starting berth.

Burnley will be without Aaron Ramsey (knee), Jordan Beyer, Nathan Redmond (both thigh) and Ameen Al-Dakhil and have fitness doubts over Maxime Esteve (knock) and Luca Koleosho (knee).

Vincent Kompany's Burnley have to go all out for a win when they head to the capital to take on Tottenham.

The stats

Tottenham have lost their last four Premier League games, however, they have won six of their last seven matches against Burnley.

Four of Tottenham’s last five matches have featured at least four goals.

Eight of Burnley’s last nine games have featured goals for both teams.

Prediction

Burnley cruised to the Championship title last season but they have found life much tougher in the Premier League and their fate could be sealed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where a high-scoring home win looks the most likely outcome.

The Clarets got off to a dreadful start, losing 11 of their first 13 games and have never really looked like climbing out of trouble.

Fourteen of Burnley’s 24 points have come on their top-flight travels, including a 1-1 draw at Manchester United a fortnight ago.

But Burnley have failed to defeat any of the top-half clubs and they look like ideal opponents for a Spurs side seeking to recover from their recent slump.

Tottenham completed a miserable eight days with last Sunday’s 4-2 loss away to Liverpool, but they have not lost to a bottom-six side all season and should bounce back with a comfortable victory.
