Brentford boss Thomas Frank admits he has a lot of admiration for new Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder.

Wilder, 56, has returned to the Blades after being sacked in 2021 having originally taken the club to the Premier League.

And Frank is expecting a tough task when the Bees travel to Yorkshire this weekend.

He said: "I admire Chris Wilder a lot, I met him a few times in the Championship.

"What he did last time in the Premier League was very impressive.

"I know it’ll be a difficult game, I know they’ll be on it. They will come flying at us."

United are rock bottom in the standings and have only picked up one win this season, but Wilder's side gave a good account of themselves in the 2-0 loss to Liverpool last Wednesday.

Brentford will be without talisman Bryan Mbeumo, who picked up an injury that Frank believes will keep him out for several weeks.

Yoane Wissa is the man expected to step up in the speedster's absence, with Ivan Toney also due to return in just over a month after serving a suspension for betting breaches.

Frank added: "Wissa has had some good performances but has been a bit unlucky.

"He's got on the end of a lot of things and he just needs to find his highest level, which we know he has.

"He is very important for the team."

A win for the West Londoners could lift them into the top half of the table if 10th-placed Chelsea fail to beat Everton on Merseyside.
