Stoke to win

Swansea and Stoke are both in the large gaggle of Championship teams who are not yet safe from relegation and the stakes are therefore extremely high for their clash in Wales on Wednesday night.

Swansea have been sliding closer to danger in recent weeks with a derby win over Cardiff being their only win in their last six games.

However, Stoke have at least been heading in the right direction, pulling themselves out of the bottom three after being in the relegation zone a month ago.

Team news

Swansea defender Josh Tymon may be unavailable to face his former team as he is dealing with a calf problem. Bashir Humphreys, Liam Cullen and Liam Walsh are all in contention to come into the team.

Stoke have no new injury worries but Tyrese Campbell, Andre Vidigal and Wouter Berger could feature if manager Steven Schumacher decides to freshen things up.

The stats

- Both teams have scored in five of the last six Championship games between Swansea and Stoke

- Eight of Swansea's 12 Championship wins this season have come by a one-goal margin

- There have been under 2.5 goals in Swansea's last six league matches

- Swansea have scored only one goal during their last three games

- Stoke have won as many away league games this season as they have had home successes (six each)

- Swansea have scored only 22 goals in 20 home league matches this season

Prediction

While Swansea and Stoke are separated by only one point in the Championship table after 41 games each, the Potters have been in better form lately and look worth supporting to secure a valuable away success.

Stoke were in the bottom three a month ago, but have climbed away from trouble by winning three of their last seven games against some solid sides in Middlesbrough, Preston and Hull.

They have also picked up draws against relegation rivals Huddersfield and play-off contenders West Brom in their last two games and confidence should be rising that they can stay clear of danger.

In contrast, the Swans cannot be feeling comfortable after sustaining three losses in their last five games including a costly 1-0 home defeat by fellow strugglers QPR on Easter Monday.

While Swansea rightly celebrated their 2-0 derby success over Cardiff, they have taken only one point and scored a single goal in three games since and they look vulnerable to a Stoke team who have collected only two fewer points from away games than they have at home this season.

The Potters have won their last two road games at Preston and Hull and have the ability to add Swansea to that list.
