Mark Robins' Coventry side are firmly in the mix for a play-off place again this season

- Stoke have won once at home since October
- Coventry have suffered one defeat in their last 16 games
- Recommended bet: Coventry to win

Coventry are determined to prove that last season’s run to the play-offs final was no fluke and head for Stoke in the top six again and full of confidence.

Mark Robins’ men have lost just once in over two months and they’ll fancy their chances at the in the Potteries where Stoke have been in wretched form.

Stoke are 17/10 with LiveScore Bet to register a rare home triumph with Coventry 29/20 to maintain their promotion push with another three points.

Team news

Lyndon Gooch and Josh Laurent are on standby should fellow midfielders Junior Tchamadeu and Wouter Burger fail to recover from knocks picked up in midweek.

Wesley could replace Neil Ennis if Steve Schumacher feels he needs a change at the top of his 3-4-3 formation.

Callum O’Hare, rested for Coventry’s trip to Plymouth in midweek, could be recalled. Ben Sheaf and Jamie Allen are still absentees.

The stats

Only the three sides in the relegation places have scored fewer goals than Stoke, who have netted 30 times in 32 matches.

The Potters have only scored 12 goals at home, the lowest total in the whole division.

Stoke have failed to find the net in six of their last nine home league matches.

Both teams have scored in each of Coventry’s last 11 matches in all competitions.

Coventry have not failed to find the net since the 0-0 home draw with Stoke in November, 20 fixtures ago.

Prediction

Stoke’s 1-0 win against QPR on Wednesday night, their first victory at home since October, has given Steven Schumacher a slight reprieve.

It wasn’t pretty against a team camped in the bottom three but it was important.

However, Coventry on Saturday will represent an entirely different challenge to the Hoops, with Mark Robins’ men full of confidence as they find themselves in the top six.

Wednesday night’s long trip to Plymouth will have taken plenty out of them, but twice coming from behind to draw 2-2 will have added to the sense that this is a team who you can never write off.

Stoke have won just three of their last 19, their three scalps - Birmingham, Rotherham and now Rangers - all in the bottom seven in the Championship.

Coventry, in contrast, have lost just one of their last 13 in the league, and even in that sole reverse - 2-1 at Norwich - they were holding their own until Liam Kitching’s red card.

The visitors have scored over twice as many goals on their travels as Stoke have at home, and get the nod.
