Rotherham will be hoping to narrow the gap to Championship safety on Tuesday night when they take on West Brom at the New York Stadium.

It has been another tough campaign for Rotherham and they head into this fixture sitting bottom of the standings, with just two wins from 20 attempts leaving them eight points from survival.

West Brom find themselves at the other end of the table in the play-off positions, but they have hit a bump in the road and have lost two games in a row ahead of this trip to south Yorkshire.

This fixture may not be the easy away victory being predicted and the Millers, who have been more competitive on home turf, should put up a good fight.

Team news

Rotherham defender Daniel Ayala is suspended after being sent off in the defeat to Swansea and that should present a starting opportunity to Grant Hall.

The Millers are expected to remain without the services of defenders Tyler Blackett and Cameron Humphreys, midfielders Cafu, Sam Clucas and Shane Ferguson and forward Andre Green due to injury.

West Brom are without Matt Phillips, who is set to be missing for some time with a hamstring injury, while Daryl Dike is not expected back until after Christmas and Adam Reach will be given PL2 minutes to build his fitness.

Jed Wallace failed to make the squad for the Sunderland loss, but he is in contention for this match, while Okay Yokuslu is available after serving a suspension.

Josh Maja was forced off in the loss at the Stadium of Light with an ankle issue and he will need to be assessed.

The stats

Rotherham are without a win from their last eight games, winning four and drawing four.

Of the Millers' total points tally of 13 this season, 11 have come on home soil.

Rotherham have beaten Coventry and Norwich at home this term and also secured draws against Blackburn, Preston, QPR, Ipswich and Leeds.

Albion have suffered consecutive 2-1 defeats heading into this contest, against Leicester and Sunderland, and the Baggies have lost three of their last five away assignments.

Carlos Corberan's side have taken 32 points from their 20 Championship matches, though only 12 points have come on the road.

Prediction

West Brom may be sitting in the play-off spots, but a huge reason for this has been their home form and they may find life tough at the New York Stadium.

The Baggies have been inconsistent on the road, mixing defeats with wins of late, and they are taking on a Rotherham side who were unbeaten at four on home soil before going down 2-1 to Swansea last time out.

It is worth saying the Millers were down to 10 men just 17 minutes into that contest following Ayala's dismissal, and the way they valiantly fought against the Swans shows the spirit in this squad.

With no less than 11 of Rotherham's 13 points coming in south Yorkshire this season, there looks to be every chance that they can get another positive result on their own patch.
