Marti Cifuentes oversaw QPR's 4-2 win over Stoke which ended a run of 12 Championship games without a win

- Preston have lost six of their last ten fixtures
- QPR have avoided defeat in three of their last four matches
- Recommended bet: QPR or draw double chance

Preston are out of the Championship play-off places after back-to-back defeats, but they have an immediate chance to return to the top six when taking on struggling QPR at Deepdale.

Ryan Lowe’s side topped the division for a three-week period in September, but they have lost their way in recent weeks and were beaten 4-0 at Middlesbrough on Tuesday.

QPR have been battling away towards the lower end of the table and will be looking to build on their welcome 4-2 midweek success at home to Stoke.

The Londoners have shown improvement under Spanish head coach Marti Cifuentes, but they remain six points inside the relegation zone.

Team news

Preston midfielder Brad Potts is suspended after accumulating five yellow cards, but winger Robbie Brady has served a one-match ban.

Calvin Ramsay (knee) and Jack Whatmough (hamstring) came off the bench in Tuesday’s 4-0 loss at Middlesbrough and will be pushing for more minutes.

Greg Cunningham (knock), Ali McCann (calf) are doubts and Emil Riis (knee) misses out.

QPR defender Morgan Fox (knee) has not featured since September.

Sinclair Armstrong and Chris Willock are offensive options if Cifuentes decides to make changes, but centre-forward Lyndon Dykes should keep his place after netting twice against Stoke.

The stats

Preston have registered just two victories from their last 11 matches and have gone 13 matches without keeping a clean sheet, shipping two or more goals in seven of their last ten fixtures.

Six of Preston’s last eight games have featured goals for both teams.

QPR’s 4-2 victory at home to Stoke snapped a 12-game winless sequence.

The Hoops have lost four of their last five away games, but eight of their 13 points have been accrued on the road.

Six of QPR’s last seven away matches have featured fewer than three goals.

Prediction

QPR have picked up a respectable five points from four games under Cifuentes and they can add to their tally by avoiding defeat at Deepdale.

Cifuentes took on the job knowing he faced a battle to keep QPR in the Championship and there is still plenty of work to be done, with the Londoners positioned six points inside the relegation zone.

However, Cifuentes has overseen a noticeable improvement in performance and his team achieved a major breakthrough on Tuesday with their 4-2 success at home to Stoke.

Having registered their first home win of the season, QPR will fancy their chances of gaining another positive result against an out-of-sorts Preston side who were beaten 4-0 at Middlesbrough earlier this week.

North End started the season impressively, but they have lost six of their last ten fixtures and may suffer another setback against the resurgent Hoops.
