- Porto have won nine of their last 10 home matches
- Inter Milan have lost their last two away assignments
- Recommended bet: Porto to qualify

Inter Milan have not contested a Champions League quarter-final since 2011 but they take a 1-0 advantage into their round of 16, second leg clash against Porto at Estadio do Dragao.

The teams looked evenly matched at the San Siro, but Otavio's 78th minute red card tipped the balance in Inter's favour and the home side's late pressure was rewarded by Romelu Lukaku's 86th minute strike.

Porto left the stadium disappointed, but they performed to a decent standard and will fancy their chances of turning the tie around.

Team news

Porto head coach Sergio Conceicao will be forced into at least one change with midfielder Otavio serving a one-match suspension following his red card in the first leg at the San Siro.

Canada international Stephen Eustaquio is among the contenders to come into the side although he suffered a minor heel during Friday's 3-2 league victory at home to Estoril and was substituted in the 68th minute.

Offensive options are limited by the absences of Gabriel Veron (ankle) and Evanlison (thigh) but Galeno (muscle strain) could be pushing for a start after making his return as a substitute against Estoril.

Inter's first choice goalkeeper Andre Onana should return after he gave way to Samir Handanovic for Friday's 2-1 loss away to Spezia.

Hakan Calhanoglu is set to return to the starting XI and Edin Dzeko is battling with Romelu Lukaku for an offensive position alongside Lautaro Martinez.

Milan Skriniar has been struggling with a back injury and will need to be assessed while Dalbert (knee) is a long-term absentee.

The stats

Porto's last two Champions League last-16 ties were against Italian teams and they won both, eliminating Roma in 2019 and Juventus in 2021.

The Portuguese side have won nine of their last 10 home fixtures and finished top of Champions League Group B with four wins from six games.

Inter only need to avoid defeat to earn a place in the last eight but they have been beaten in their last two away fixtures, losing 1-0 to Bologna and 2-1 against Spezia.

They mustered 10 points in the Champions League group stage to finish in second place, eight points adrift of sectional winners Bayern Munich.

Prediction

Porto looked a decent side for large parts of their single-goal loss at the San Siro and they can bounce back with a victory in the return leg.

A two-goal success will be needed for Porto to qualify without need of a penalty shootout, but the Portuguese hosts are unlikely to be especially fearful of Inter, who have fallen 18 points adrift of Napoli in the Serie A title race.

Inter's away results have been inconsistent throughout the campaign, taking just 17 points on their Serie A travels (the lowest among the top nine), and will be severely tested by a Porto side spurred on by vociferous home support.

Porto came through their last two Champions League last-16 ties (against Roma and Juventus) despite having to recover from single-goal first-leg deficits.

However, they were taken to extra-time on both occasions and the clash against Inter could be another extended affair.
