Liverpool will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League when they make the trip to the City Ground on Saturday to take on relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest.

The Reds are in full flow heading into this contest, having won the League Cup for a record-extending 10th time on Sunday before then dispatching Southampton 3-0 on Wednesday to advance into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Forest conceded late on to go down 1-0 to Manchester United in the FA Cup, and the Tricky Trees will now be putting all their focus on Premier League survival, as they are just one place and four points above the relegation zone.

Ola Aina, Willy Boly and Ibrahim Sangare are still recovering from injuries sustained at the Africa Cup of Nations and are not expected to be available for selection.

Chris Wood and Nuno Tavares have both been pencilled in for returns from their respective injuries at the end of March.

Liverpool's injury list is a lengthy one, and they will be without the services of Joel Matip, Diogo Jota, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, Stefan Bajcetic, Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch and Thiago Alcantara.

Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo will all be assessed closer to the time.

The stats

Forest have lost three of their last four games in all competitions to slip perilously close to the bottom three, and they are 7/4 to be relegated with LiveScore Bet.

Since Nuno Espirito Santo's appointment in December, Forest have conceded 24 goals and scored 23 times across his 14 matches in charge.

Liverpool are on a five-game winning streak in all competitions, while they have tasted success in five of their last six away outings in the Premier League.

Colombia international Diaz has scored four goals in his last eight appearances for the Reds, most recently netting in the 4-1 victory over Luton on February 21.

Prediction

While the formbook points towards a Liverpool win, this trip to Forest is a potential banana skin for a Reds side that are being decimated by injuries at the moment.

Forest are also scrapping for their lives and they will not make life easy for Jurgen Klopp's visitors, who lost 1-0 on their last trip to the City Ground.

It may, therefore, prove prudent to look at the goalscorer market and back Diaz to get on the scoresheet for Liverpool, who could be missing several key players in attack once again.

The Colombian has stepped up during the injury crisis, netting four times in his last eight outings, and he will be fit and raring to go, having been an unused substitute against Southampton on Wednesday.
