Two teams battling at different ends of the Championship table clash at The Den on Saturday, when relegation-threatened Millwall host a Cardiff side that still have a slim chance of making the play-offs.

The unpredictable Championship threw up another shock result on Tuesday when the Lions defeated table-toppers Leicester 1-0, a win that moved them four points clear of the drop zone.

Cardiff edged past Birmingham 1-0 on Wednesday to keep themselves in with a sliver of making the play-offs, with nine points the gap to Norwich in sixth.

Team news

Millwall are once again expected to be without the services of Joe Bryan, Murray Wallace and Kevin Nisbet due to injury, with the trio pencilled in for a return at the end of this month.

Josh Wilson-Esbrand and Callum O'Dowda are not expected back for Cardiff until the start of May, while Kion Etete, Jak Alnwick and Mark McGuinness are still sidelined for another week or so.

The stats

Since returning to Millwall for a second managerial spell in February, Neil Harris has guided his side to four wins, two draws and three defeats.

The Lions are unbeaten in their last four home matches, recording three 1-0 victories and a 1-1 draw.

Cardiff have won three of their last four away assignments and have failed to score in just one of their last five road fixtures.

Four of the last five meetings between these two at The Den have seen both teams score.

Prediction

Millwall have managed to build a four-point buffer to the relegation zone but they will not be letting up just yet and will be looking to attack from the start when Cardiff visit The Den.

The Lions have looked better since the return of Harris and there has been an improvement in attack, with his side netting in seven of his nine matches at the helm.

It has been harder for the 46-year-old to fix the issues at the back and that should provide Cardiff with the confidence they can get on the scoresheet, something they have achieved in four of their last five away assignments.

The Bluebirds know the chance of clinching a play-off spot is unlikely, but they will give it everything they have in the remaining weeks and goals is what they must produce.

Expect both sides to create chances and find the back of the net.
