- Recommended bet: Bruno Fernandes to be First Goalscorer

Manchester United were given a scare by the Premier League's bottom club Sheffield United on Wednesday so they can take nothing for granted in their weekend clash with Burnley.

The Clarets thumped Sheffield United 4-1 at Bramall Lane last time out but the struggling Blades led 1-0 and 2-1 at OId Trafford in midweek before subsiding to a 4-2 defeat.

The Red Devils are sixth in the table despite a patchy campaign under Erik ten Hag while Vincent Kompany's Burnley have boosted their survival hopes with a run of only one defeat in seven games.

Team news

United hope to welcome back Marcus Rashford and Jonny Evans.

However, the Red Devils are still missing Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Anthony Martial, Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount, Raphael Varane and Willy Kambwala.

United's defensive injuries mean Casemiro may again partner Harry Maguire as a makeshift centre-back.

Burnley are without the injured Aaron Ramsey, Nathan Redmond, Luca Koleosho, Ameen Al Dakhil and Jordan Beyer.

Vincent Kompany may name the same team who started last weekend's win at Sheffield United.

The stats

- Six of Manchester United's last seven league and cup matches featured over 3.5 goals

- Both teams have scored in 11 of United's last 13 games in all competitions

- Bruno Fernandes has scored seven goals in his last five appearances for the Red Devils

- Burnley have lost only one of their last seven Premier League games

- Two of the Clarets' last four away matches have ended 2-2

- Burnley have taken only two points from 17 games against teams in the top half

United trailed bottom club Sheffield United 2-1 after an hour of Wednesday's Premier League game at Old Trafford but the in-form Fernandes sparked a much-needed comeback from the hosts.

The United skipper equalised from the penalty spot before his fine left-footed strike put his side 3-2 up in the 81st minute and Fernandes looks a tempting option to score first against rejuvenated Burnley.

Last season's runaway Championship winners have had a tough campaign back in the top flight.

However, a flurry of impressive recent results have closed the gap on their survival rivals Luton and Nottingham Forest and Kompany's men know that United are vulnerable at Old Trafford.

Burnley have enjoyed a breather after last weekend's impressive 4-1 win at Sheffield United, which followed recent draws with West Ham, Chelsea, Wolves and Brighton and a 2-1 home victory over Brentford.

The Clarets have a woeful record against teams in the top half, though, and they may struggle to subdue Fernandes, who scored the only goal in September's reverse fixture at Turf Moor.
