Luton will be kicking themselves that they did not hold on to a win or even a point at Bournemouth on Wednesday, but they can still move out of the bottom three with a win over Nottingham Forest, who start the weekend fourth from bottom.

The Tricky Trees have won just one of their last 11 Premier League away games and need three points to get some breathing space between themselves and the relegation zone.

Team news

Luton’s Tahith Chong is struggling with a rib injury, while Gabriel Osho, Mads Andersen, Jacob Brown, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Elijah Adebayo, Marvelous Nakamba and Amari’i Bell are all set to miss out for the Hatters.

Forest have high hopes that Giovanni Reyna and Ola Aina will be fit enough to be involved, but Gonzalo Montiel and Nuno Tavares are out.

The stats

Four of Luton’s last five home league matches have featured at least four goals and both teams have scored in 11 of the Hatters’ last 12 matches.

Rob Edwards’ side have lost six of their last seven league games.

Forest have claimed just nine points on the road this season and the Tricky Trees have kept just two clean sheets in their last 24 league away matches.

Five of Forest’s last eight league road outings have featured at least four goals.

Nuno Espirito Santo has not been able to guide Nottingham Forest away from relegation danger.

Prediction

Luton manager Rob Edwards must be wondering what his team have to do to get over the line this season after they squandered a great opportunity to get out of the bottom three at Bournemouth on Wednesday.

The Hatters were 3-0 up at half-time at the Vitality Stadium but collapsed after the interval to suffer a 4-3 defeat from which it may take them time to recover.

However, that is not a luxury they can afford with Nottingham Forest heading to Kenilworth for a proper relegation six-pointer, and we should expect plenty of goals.

Forest have won at Chelsea and Newcastle this season, but their away form has been generally poor and they head to Bedfordshire having lost their last three league matches.

They were unfortunate not to get anything at home to Liverpool when they were stung by a late goal, but manager Nuno Espirito Santo will want to see a much stronger attacking performance following a blunt effort at Brighton last time.

The Hatters will almost certainly get on the front foot and not just because they wish to make up for their midweek nightmare on the south coast.

They have performed best at home when taking the game to their opponents, impressing against some of the teams at the top of the table and they will not hold back, so expect this clash to be the eighth match in 10 that has produced at least four goals.
